Message:   I missed the episode on the 27'th but will watch for the rest. Maybe it will open some minds as to what the word Mustang means. I have quite a few horror stories of what people have told me when they mentioned they once owned a Mustang.
When I had my Sulphurs advertised all went well as I told tham about the Sulphur and then when I mentioned the word Mustang they all turned away stating that all of them are crazy and they would not own one. It is a good thing that I am on Zanax or I more than likely would of thrown a few extra choice than I did at them.
I agree, the Sulphur is different and not that easy to train. It takes a lot of patience and time, more so that the domestic paint or quarter horse. I had not really interacted with my Sulphurs for the past year and my feral mares basically went back to their feral state of mind. I had not ridden Pepper since my surgery and when I brought out the saddle all hell broke loose into a wide open rodeo. Now, Pepper was worked with easy to ride but the time lapse of the one year made her very fearful of the saddle and pad. It will take some time but she will once again settle down.
I have read on other boards degrading a certain trainer and I think it is terrible to do so unless the person doing the degrading has in the last few years a few Sulphur's of her own under saddle instead of just breeding foals for sale.
On a so called professional site I read about feeding treats and once again degrading the trainer.
I also use treats when I train, I use what I call a fanny pack which I keep the horse treats ( Nicker Makers )in.
What in God's name is wrong with rewarding a horse with a treat when it has done as asked????? I have never had a Sulphur try to bite me, kick me or do me any harm.
So dolks, do not degrade anyone if you get a Sulphur that has not been worked in a while and they are fearful, have patience as they will come around.
