Message:   Controversy, drinking and riding, horses in costume and a horse thief caught red-handed! Sounds like the New York Times, but the drama is all in this month’s Equestrian Network Magazine (www.equestmagazine.com.) This month Don Blazer gives his candid view of the “Positive Reinforcement Movement” and Angela Kirby tells about a stolen horse that goes to college. I discuss drinking and riding with as much humor as possible for such a topic and Martha McNiel recounts creative ideas for Halloween costumes for horse and rider.

I am excited about our new feature "Your Dream Ranch,” where we will bring you a ranch that is actually for sale somewhere in the world and worthy of dreaming of. If you like time travel, we have the true historic story of Beloved Betty and the history of the New York Mounted Police. This month’s Breed of the Month is Tennessee Walkers and we have equestrian escapes in Slovenia on Lipizzaners. Be sure and check out the fabulous art of Dee Wallis as she collages great images of the cowboy and equestrian world.

I am also excited to add Vicki Hittson to our columnists as she brings us monthly information on America’s most popular horse in “Quarter Horse Chat.” Madalyn Ward examines Behavior Horse Matching and Lynn Palm and Julie Goodnight continue to give us great riding tips. Be sure and check out the cartoon at the bottom of the front page by our own Jody Werner when she reveals what happens when animals are exposed to technology.
