I heard about another group of horses in Spain that are even more rare and believed to be more straight than the Sorraia(at least in Spain and Portugal. It is my own opinion that the horses in the Americas are more pure Iberian than anything in Spain and Portugal due to the hundreds of years of royal crossbreeding whereas the Spanish colonies liked, for the most part, to keep their horses straight Iberian ie Peruvian Paso, Puerto Rican Paso Fino, Chilean Criollo, and the straight horses found in North America). They come in mostly grey and bay coloration from what I read. About 61 of them left. They say that they cannot genetically relate them to anything overseas. They think that they are possibly related to the horses that were brought over to the Americas. After all, the original horses brought were of bay or black or some solid base coloration and were said to be of poor conformation. These horses are said to have very poor conformation. Though the only problem is that later during the conquest it is said that the horses in the Americas were so grand that they were better than those back in Spain!

Anyways, enough of my historical rants!

Looking forward to the new pics of Khan.

Kim
