Message:   I have had to do this twice. Once was with a mustang mare who had injured her foot when she was wild. Her foot looked like she had split off the back part of her hoof and it had slowly healed while she was wild, so needless to say she did NOT like to have anyone touch her foot. It cost me to even have her feet trimmed, so when she stepped on a nail, I had to pay the vet to come knock her out just to change the bandages. Wow that was exciting and expensive. The other time was when my favorite horse Copper, stepped on a nail and I had to call the vet. He said to give him medicine by squirting it down his throat, change the bandage every night and soak the foot in iodine. We had to lay down clean tarps with clean blankets over them, so that Copper could not get his foot dirty while we were doing all this to him. The iodine stung and made him jump around and not want to give us his foot. Nobody got hurt, but we were all so flustered with each other, there was a lot of tension lets say going on. We all survived, but this was not something I want to ever have to go through again.
