Message:   I am just the webmaster of the ASHA site, not a member of either registry. What I am about to state is not trying to fluff feathers but to clarify what I know is the truth about the ASHA.I do not know all of the BOD directly but in the correspondence with them all I have grown to know that they are dedicated to the breed and have strived hard to get where they are today. I read the message boards, all of them, not just those exclusive to the Sulphurs. I am the owner of a very Spanish type BLM mare and will breed her to Sioux Socks this coming spring. Am I proud that this foal can be registered in the Sport Horse Registry and ASHA appendix, you bet I am. I had held back from breeding her as I did not just want to produce another Grade horse. When the day comes that I can purchase a full ASHA Sulphur I also will breed true but until that time I will at least have a part of this fantastic breed.
It is sad and disheartening when you read posts that jab at others for their convictions and what they believe in. I read this and could not believe what I had read:
_______________________________________________________________________________
This came about when two outspoken Sulphur owners insisted that the SHR needed to make major changes "to preserve the Sulphur breed". The irony in all this is that both of those owners bred all their Sulphur mares to an outside stallion. In spite of this, a few owners followed them in forming a new registry. Within a little over a year after the forming the new registry, both the ringleaders had disposed of all their Sulphur horses, and are now into completely different breeds. Now the few that are left holding the new registry together are looking toward crossbreeding with other breeds, rather than breeding to other Sulphur horses that aren't registered in their registry.
Also, you wrote:
We were told that we could change our registration requirements to be able to register our horses as "American Azteca's" (not to be confused with true Azteca's. American Azteca's are to Azteca's about what Sorraia Mustangs are to Sorraias).

And another:
It didn't take me very long to figure out who had the interest of the horses in mind and truly tried to promote them and who used the horses as the next novelty breed to try and profit from. It has been mentioned earlier here that some of the main "vocal" proponents have sold their sulphurs and now they are into some breed or another or trying to make hybrids etc. That's all fine and dandy but I'm sure you are coming to the same conclusions I came to. Another thing I noticed and I'm sure you see it too is the way people conduct themselves.___________________________________________________________________________

Where is it written that a person must own a certain breed in order to help promote that breed and registry? Did you know that this "Ringleader" you speak of is going to purchase a Sulphur next year, how can you condemn someone when you do not know what their future plans are? Disposed?...., I prefer to state that the Sulphurs were sold to homes where they will be promoted and well taken care of.
Followers?...., since this poster is not a member of the ASHA how would they know how many are within the registry? The person that placed this post is the #1 viewer by her IP address on the ASHA site, we appreciate her commitment to our site.
Ringleader?...., this I will not place a comment on as it reflects on the poster itself.
The few left holding the registry together?...., where did you get your stats from? I shall for your peace of mind place on the others that are working so hard for this registry.
And again, one more time, we are not crossbreeding our Sulphurs, we had talked of breeding Sulphur stallions to outside mares for a fee. I had my twelve year old Daughter read Pete's postings, she understood what the ASHA said, evidently it was not placed in a simple enough language for some to understand. You also have a appendix registry, correct? We have enough Sulphurs registered that we do not need to breed to Sulphurs not registered in the ASHA.
you also stated_________________________________
We were told that we could change our registration requirements to be able to register our horses as "American Azteca's" (not to be confused with true Azteca's. American Azteca's are to Azteca's about what Sorraia Mustangs are to Sorraias).
It is a fact that you did contact these registries to have your Sulphurs included? If you are so against this those registry's why bother to question the inclusion of your horses. It is also a fact that you are very avid about the Sorraia Mustang registry, you all boast of your horses being recognized. This is a color registry alone, not Spanish, any dun or Grulla horse with a similarity to a Sorraia can be registered. This includes any breed, from any registered stock or just a plain grade horse. How ironic that one would promote this type of horse and yet discredit the ASHA for moving on.
To the other poster:
"Novelty breed" to try and profit from?...., since you stated that you do not have a horse I think you should do a bit of research and get to understand a little better what you are trying to say.
No one member as you stated, "vocal" proponents, has sold their Sulphurs, I would like to know just where you are getting your information.
On your front page of your site you have written:

Please have a look around the site and feel free to post questions or comments at our message board?

I have read your board since I was contracted to do the ASHA site, with the hostility on your site in no way that I would submit myself to your unscrupulous ridicule for stating the truth.

To the person that placed this post I would like to ask, how many out crosses have you produced? In quite a few of your postings on your site we hear of your half Sulphurs. Why is it that for some it is so easy to condemn others, life would be a lot more pleasant if some would just leave well enough alone.

In all of the Articles that the ASHA have written and published you are the ones barking at the back door to be let in. I am sure with your eternal search of sites to place information for your registry is not up to the ASHA to open the doors for you.

The ASHA pasture is green and they stay on thier side, there is no reason for them to jump the fence into unknown territory.
