Hi Everyone
Looks like there is not much activity on the board so i'd like to be the first to say hello. I'm currently studying reflexology at night with an aim to opening my own business next year. Anyone else have experience of opening up their own reflexology practice? And the problems encountered. I would love to hear about it! J |

Re: Hi Everyone
Hi John I've had my own practice for 2 years now. It is tough at the start but advice I would give you is to contact your local enterprise board. There may be start-up grants available to you. And in the first year of your business don't splash otu on unnecessary purchases. Keep it basic. Purchase your needs, not your wants, and keep as much money in the bank. You wil be a lot better off for it after the year has passed. MARKETING, MARKETING, MARKETING and ADVERTISING, ADVERTSISING AND ADVERTISING once again in case you dint get it the first time!! are the keys to success. I know its a bit obvious but you must go overboard on the two otherwise people wont be aware of you. Must go now-have my first client of the morning soon! Cya Suz |

Re: Re: Hi Everyone
Hi everyone! I am a hypnotherapist and never really thought about advertising myself as I have always believe that the "word to mouth" was the best way to get clients. However I got myself involved with a Marketing company that found me in the General Register of Hypnotherapist. They called me and told me they were a local PHARMACY in the town I live in the South of England, and wanted to send some of their clients to me. They came to my house the following day. The man, called KEVIN DUNN, never told me they were LEISURE-MEDICAL UK in Lancashire(Marketing and Car Boot sale organizers) and the Pharmacy they told me about has confirmed not knowing anything about them and is not involved in anyway. This man said they worked for the NHS and then he used every pressure tactic, he distracted me with questions about music and other things, didn’t explain anything clearly, avoided my questions and acted irritated when I tried to clarify anything. I Asked him to give me time to think about it and to ask some colleges, as I had never thought about advertising myself, but he told me I had to do it there and then and made me feel like I was wasting his time. I ended up giving him £100 cash and I signed, what I thought was the receipt for it, but to my surprise, it was a contract for 2 years! (They would advertise me in a leaflet and I would pay them £350!) I called them strait back, but they were rude to me and told me that the man would ring me back. He never did, so I called again and told them I wanted to cancel it. They told me I couldn’t cancel and I had NOT cooling off period, then THEY THREATED ME to get legal advice if I cancelled the contract. I cancelled it by a recorded delivery letter under the “DOOR STEP SELLING REGULATIONS WITH 7 DAYS COOLING OFF PERIOD” the following day. But, nearly a month later, they have taken another £125 from my bank account and have set another £125 payment for the beginning of January! Now I have found out many other therapist witch lives have also been disturbed by this company going to their homes, lying to them and taking their money against their own will. It seems to be an ongoing saga, so please be very careful before making any agrements as there are a few companies making a living by obtaining money fraudulently from therapist. I just don't want anyone to go though the heartache I have been going trough this past months. Regards, yourmind |
