Harold Davies is mentioned in George eaton's "Neath and the Spanish Civil war 1936-39, Catalyst of the Angry Thirties" 1980. Privately published by George Eaton who then lived at 7, Cimla Road, Neath. Is he still alive/ the book is hard to find and mention's Harold's demise and the fact that hios name was on a plaque set up on Jarama after the fighting but his death was dated as 28th February! A better picture of the memorial with the names on it is in Frank Graham's "Battle of Jarama book which I only sold to IBer Sam Russell last Saturday! Otherwise I could have copie it for you! The south Wales Miners' Library should have a copy of the memorial (now destroyed, of course). Ray Davies a councillor in caerphilly CBC might know more as he is also related to Harold. He may know of a photograph about? good luck! Alan Warren |
