New book on English speaking Brigaders
Just a quick note to make people aware of a new publication in Spanish. "Los Brigadistas de habla Inglesa y La Guerra Civil Espanola" by Antonio R. Celada, Manuel Gonzalez de la Aleja and Daniel Pastor Garcia. Editorial Ambos Mundos, ISBN 84 7455 108 0. This book is published in connection with the Slamanaca IB Conference being held this week.The book is a very useful reference to the XV Brigade with book references,reviews of th more important English language books, films, periodicals, memorials, well known IB writers, Museums and sources of material, a brief summary of the Battalions AND a complete listing of Brigaders who served. Though the list is not perfect in that there are no references to the brief information on each person. As a starting point it is a very useful publication for those doing research on XV Brigade. The authors request further information on Brigaders, and I know of one person itching to e mail them about a certain Welsh Brigader! I recommend this book and even if your knowledge of Spanish is minimal, the references to English books and list of English speaking Brigaders is invaluable. And Antonio´s book on Manchester Brigaders is in the bibliography- so it must be good! I may have some copies at the IBMT AGM in Manchester on October 14th. |
