Re: Four Dreams ...Part 3 of 4.....Do You Have Wisdom
Why do you call yourself 'cloud'? Up in the heavens where normal humans can't touch you...up in heaven...The three dreams you have posted reflect the 'Christ' archetype, or the path to individuation.
Dream 1.The Challenge - "Hearing of Your Destiny"
D2. The Temptation - "Let this cup pass."
D3. The Trial before Pilate - "Are you a God?"
If you are not consciously assimilating this path, then I fear that your ego may be unconsciously identifying with this archetype.
It's all quite religious, but older than the Christian religion.
I wonder what dream 4 is about?

Hi Cloud,
There are many references on this site that relate to archetypes. They are good places to start understanding what they are about. Basically it is "the inherited part of the Psyche, structuring patterns of psychological performance linked to instinct, a hypothetical entitity irrepresentable in itself and evident only through its manifestations" - A Critical Dictionary of Jungian Analysis.

Re: Four Dreams ...Part 3 of 4.....Do You Have Wisdom
Cloud,
I hope you find answers to your dreams. Stephen is wise in the ways of mythological associations in dreams. I sensed there was a 'native' aspect to your posts {as well as having the name Cloud} and thought Stephen would be adapt at understanding the associations to mythical symbols. There does seem to be many 'archetypal' images in your dreams which would suggest a strong association to myth and ritual. Of course your Native American heritage may explain much of that.
Are you familiar with Joseph Campbell? His interest in myths began as a child in studying Native American mythology. He was a great storyteller and used Native American myths often in his presentations. I suggest you read {listen or watch} his 'Power of Myth' series, much of which was filmed at George Lucas' Skywalker ranch. You will get a good sense of the 'archetypes' as well as his abilities to articulate the wisdom of myth.

Re: Four Dreams ...Part 3 of 4.....Do You Have Wisdom
Yes, the 'native' aspect would fit in nicely with 'individuation'. Seeking ones roots. Who we are meant to be.
I guess the dream series you had is a form of 'initiation', like a 'rite of admission'.
I can remember my 'initiation'. It was an active imagination where I was in an American indian village. I was taken away from my family by the male elders of the tribe and taken into a cave with wall paintings of the lands animals. It was very dark and I was held down to the ground and naked, and then circumsized with a knife. I was told my animal symbol was the 'Bear'. I was then taken back to the village and the women had their backs to me, never making eye contact. Pretty interesting ay, seeing I have always lived in Australia.

Re: Four Dreams ...Part 3 of 4.....Do You Have Wisdom
Stephen,
Your experience reminds me of Campbell's quote "a ritual is the enactment of a myth". "By participating in a ritual, you are actually experiencing a mythological life. And it's out of that participation that one can learn to live spiritually".
Rituals keep us grounded.
Another time he states, "The images of myth are reflections of the spiritual potentialities of every one of us. Through contemplating these, we evoke their powers in our own lives." The Power of Myth
"We need myths that will identify the individual not with his local group but with his planet."
If I'm not mistaken the message is, 'our true grounding is the planet'. I don't believe it is possible to be truly spiritual without respecting and honoring the planet.
The power of the feminine begins with the Great Mother.
Of course I'm speaking with someone {Stephen} whose life is mythical in itself. That is reflected in his dreams. As it is with everyone {the true self, the true condition is reflected in our dreams}.
Stephen can speak to that mythical pattern that fits the individual with authority. That may be valuable for someone like Cloud who is very familiar with ritual and not so familiar with Joseph Campbell and/or Carl Jung.
And Stephen's desire to help others by giving of himself here at the Forum. That is a display of his spirituality. That proves ritual, and myth works.
As Joe would say, "I think so".

Re: Four Dreams ...Part 3 of 4.....Do You Have Wisdom
Thanks Gerard. Us Westerners have a lot to learn from the original owners of the land that we now inhabit. Life has meaning for them. Much more of a community. It's a damn shame that these differences tended to be supressed, killed off, raher than embraced. I still don't think as a community we have got the right answers for everyone. People get left behind with meritocracies/democracies/socialism/capitalism.
I watched a story on tv this morning about an Australian family of 10 that were at each other's throats. Thw father got retrenched, so they sold up everything and went camping for 14 months. They were travelling around Australia and doing home schooling. The mother said that for the first 6 months it was horrendous. Nothing seemed to work and everyone was miserable, but then something clicked and each inidividual member of the family then understood each other person. The second part of the trip was a family in harmony. She has written a book about it called "Almost Perfect" which is being released today I think. I firmly believe that nature is the best medicine and can cure almost anything.
But then, widescreen plasma tv's are pretty good too!
