Remote Desktop - Dangers?
I have read the help file regarding terminal services and remote desktop, in which it warns against using Terminal Services, "not recommended." But the business analysts who will be using this server insist that they need to have multiple sessions to the server and that PCAnywhere is too slow. So far I have: --Turned on the option for "Do not check and restart the scheduler on editor-startup" --Upsized the database to the SQL Server --Upgraded the version to the latest build - 20061025 What kinds of problems can I expect to encounter if the business analysts who use the server connect to it using Remote Desktop? Especially if there are two concurrent sessions of Remote Desktop? |

You may notice that schedules are firing off at the wrong times, or multiple times or the schedules don't fire at all. This does not happen in all cases so it may not happen to you. If it does happen to you, the fix is as follows: - Log on to the PC as the local administrator - Go to Options->Scheduling and set scheduling to None. Apply Settings. - Restart the PC and log in as local admin again - Re-install the scheduler afresh in Options->Scheduling. The good news is that MARS V5 will be released in November 2006 and it will have full compatibility with TS and Remote Desktop. |
