When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,  to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.  They are there for the reason you need them to be.  Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.  Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.  Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.  What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.  The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

There are many different responses to crisis. Most survivors have intense feelings after a traumatic event but recover from the trauma; others have more difficulty recovering — especially those who have had previous traumatic experiences, who are faced with ongoing stress, or who lack support from friends and family — and will need additional help.

my accident August 7th 04 that left me a Paraplegic after 20 yrs of riding

On August 7th 2004 I was riding to work when I came upon a situation where I was forced to lay my bike down or probably die, after switching ends 8-9 times I put the bike into a controlled slide, thinking I would make it a lady in a rental car pulled in front of my 02 Roadking classic, this flipped my bike sending me through the air,no helment,I covered my head as well as could be expected and impacted the left side of my body on the pavement, broke every rib on the left side in multiple places, four ribs on the right, exploding my t10,t11,t12 which lefrt shards in my spinal cord, broke my scapula on the left in 7 places, opened my head in three places, instsnt paraplegia set in my legs.It has been two years,my Harley looks brand new sitting in my garage and now the fever to ride is intense.I was looking for ways to trike it when I saw your page.....I want to ride....this bike just makes scense,I have returned to driving my Ford Diesiel dually 4x4,they said I WOULD NEVER DRIVE Again, drove from Alaska where I lived to California, and last week from Cali to Mississippi and back,my favorite song is Live Like Your Dying, and I sing and entertain weekly, were producing a music video now that starts off showing the scene of the accident and I want to be riding again in the video,I am the west coast rep for my company and live like tomorrow may never come,I UNDERSTAND THAT,I raced for Arctic Cat in Alaska running the Iron Dog......2274 miles across Alaskas most extreme country at temps of 53 below doing 90 plus miles an hour, the week before my accident I climbed Baldy mountain on my four wheeler,I have always been extreme outdoors and ready to get back to it.Please contact me as I believe your bike is the way back in for so many in my situation.

They said I wouldnt drive my dually 4x4,it was to high to get in and out of,we fixed that with a Bruno Turnout seat and a lift for the chair,Thanks for your words though they were very nice,I also have seen pictures of the guy jumping his dirtbike,he lives about 75 miles from me in Temecula, what a story!

Chris, don't ever give up hope that you will ride again. I know a guy who is a paraplegic & had his Harley converted to a trike. (He was rear ended in front of his own house twice, the second time it was a hit & run, leaving him paralyzed). My husband is now a c3-c7 quadriplegic, but won't sell his street glide or fat boy, because we may add a side car to the street glide so at least he can be out on the bike. He has been standing (with help) but his arms aren't coming back yet. He was injured on a '42 Harley KR750 race bike a year ago yesterday. It's a slow recovery, but with a lot of therapy, I think he'll ride again, one way or another! Keep on trying
