Message:   In John Martin Turner's Victorian Arena - The Performers Vol 2, there is a mention of Ambrose Salvona, lion tamer who died on the 15th October 1917, aged 67. Buried Tomnahurick Cemetry, Inverness.
There are several Salvonas mentioned in the Twentieth Century Circus People (1901-1950) but just one small entry on Joseph Salvona's "wife (no christian name) of the famous clown died 26th November 1925".
These books are available for research at the Natonal Fairground Archives in Sheffield University. Other circus memorabilia is also held there.
