Other festivals
What is it with some people who just think they can set up a folk weekend any time or any where they like without even concidering what's going on around them. When we started our festival some 20 years ago we researched what was happening within some 50 miles at the same time and date. There was nothing at all so we decided to go ahead and that is how Cleckheaton festival came into being.Some two or three years later Bradford came along with their Maila which was bad enough but now we learn that Skipton is planning yes yet another Folk Festival on the same weekend.One would have thought they would have done more research, because if you look into that weekend in the folk calendar there are some ten or more festivals so it is no wonder festivals struggle to survive and are a financial nightmare. |
