I didn't know your site existed until my friend Minnie Cameron /Farquhar, passed it on to me. Congratulations on bringing it all together - you have done a superb job.
Minnie worked in Admin and I worked in Public Works -both as secretaries at NAVRADSTA right from the start 1963 until about 69. I worked with LT Steward and Bob McLellan (Resident Engineer). Our first office was a little wooden hut! I also remember an elderly Engineer called Mr Russell who had a little dog who followed him everywhere on site.
I then worked in Public Works with Lt Robert Endebrock, Chief William Beckett, Russell Smith (Smiddy), Gene Bolte, Benny Harrison, Lou Menafee. I remember - Lt Hamilton, Charlie Hock, Porter, Mason, Luca, Lt Rasmussen, Jim Gamble, George Osterberger, Lt Corduck and Chilton (the postie!) - the most amazing banjo player I have ever heard - he used to play to us ladies during our lunch break! There was the Doc and the Gunner, but unfortunately the ravages of time have gone for my memory.
My happiest working days were spent in Public Works - they were the most fantastic guys and I will never forget the happy memories, together with all the tricks the guys used to pull on me but I enjoyed it!
I no longer live in Thurso and left in 1969 , so lost touch with the base after that. If anyone can remember me, please drop me an e-mail.
