PORO CONTROVERSIAL REACTION.......

PORO FIESTA CONTROVERSIAL?

A Porohanon Reaction

I’ve read it and I was a little bit sad and confused for Porohanon people not delivering the right news: being not responsible for its contents and purely basing everything from hearsay, “kuno” and “ingon sila”. I am a Porohanon, I am proud of being one and I don’t want to hear on baseless talks and destructive remarks about my beloved birthplace. Please treat us like intellectuals; we are all over the world. Have they heard about responsible journalism?

Let me enlighten all Porohanon on this.

The Yoyoy Villame, Max Surban and Hotbabe Jen Rosendhal (hotbabe) show was not sponsored by Tourism but by a local business sector. I am sure getting these celebrities is not even a tourism agenda of the municipality. Tourism for Poro is promoting Poro , its people , culture and heritage, its scenic spots and Camotes Islands as a whole.

There was no band in the Napromu night; it was a dancing for all. They hired a VJ and it was participated by young and old alike. The gym was jam packed.

“Dili kuno daghan ang tawo sa coronation night? “You were right but not because of there was chaos but because the set up was formal, dress code was observed, there were many VIP’s, and the entrance fee was expensive because of the renowned “Renaissance band” . It was the first time we had a coronation for both Queen and Matron of Poro. Historical because for the first time Congressman, governor, Board members and Local Executives of Camotes gathered together.

For added information, let me tell you some positive events during the fiesta. It was the first time the gym had an income for entrance fees for the series of basketball tournaments. You should have seen the excitement and emotions inside the basketball arena during these games.

Why can’t we mention that our PORO KIDS had a training on theater and arts and showed it on the opening night ( January 10, 2006) of the Poro fiesta. And we are proud to see our children dance, sing and act that night. And have somebody told you that the DepEd night was extraordinary and worth your time. They featured cultural dances from all over the world with their perfectly matched and well researched costumes and accessories.

Our Tagbo festival is improving every year and we made a mark already in the Department of Tourism for it and do not talk about CVI not participating this year because for so many years they have not been participating. San Jose High School did not participate in 2006 so wrong information if you say they joined.

Let us give justice to the people who reads Camotes updates or whatever website……and justice to people or events they talk about. Porohanons are talented and spreading rumors and malicious lies is never a talent. It is good to be critic; we can help Poro better but we should make sense.
