As a family that have been frequent visitors to the area for a good many years, we were very disappointed to find that the Wharncliffe Arms has succumbed to property developers!
Then we found out that the King Arthurs pub no longer hosts any musical evenings!
We always head to the King Arthurs, and have enjoyed the jam sessions and live music,meeting up with old musician friends over many years, what a pity that has now disappeared!
Where does everyone go to now?
Watching satellite tv is no alternative to live music, and certainly won't entice any of us to go to the pub of an evening!
Fortunately the Cobweb in Boscastle is still providing live music on Saturday evenings, and the Folk Music in The Wellington on Wednesday evening, which was well supported and highly entertaining.
We also found another hidden gem, The Horseshoe at Tresparret, where we were warmly welcomed, and enjoyed good choice of beer, excellent food, and had a chance to participate in their musical jam session on Friday night.
So if anyone is looking for good,live, entertainment, then I suggest that they check out these venues, and I am sure they will be given a warm welcome as we were.
We look forward to returning in a few months time, and hopefully catching up with a few more old musician friends!
