LORD's political system Vs. Roman's system

Our present day political system is inherited from the Romans. LORD's political system is described in Judges, Old Testament. The present day system cannot dispense justice promptly, and suffers many shortcomings. I hope we will discuss various aspects of LORD's system (Vs. Roman's system) and the feasibility of its implementation. But any topics of interests to Christians are also welcome.

Honest; Sincere; Friendship without guile

They rarely speak double-tongued, that is, they rarely speak one thing, and at the same time, plotting another thing in their heart.

Their friendship is true and enduring.

The love of the world, seems not to have taken possession of their minds

The above were words from Mr. Pixley, who toured among the wild Native Americans in the early times of America.

Fleshy passions, like the love of good food and sex, as well as the desire for "possession, wealth, fame, honor, long life, life of enemy" doesn't seem to have taken possession of their minds as these have tempted the rest of the world.

LORD's words to Solomon :

Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked possessions, wealth, honour, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may rule my people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. ... [2 Chron 1:11-12]

They honor the elderly

LORD : You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God. [Lev. 19:32]

Their women are chaste

Girls around the world today commit adultery at early age, they usually have sex with several boy friends; but this is rare among them.

LORD : You shall not commit adultery. [Ex 20:14]

LORD : If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall give the marriage present for her, and make her his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equivalent to the marriage present for virgins. [Ex 22:16-17]

Moses : ... But if the thing is true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has wrought folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father's house; so you shall purge the evil from the midst of you. [Deut 22:20-21]

Their children are remarkably submissive to parental authority

LORD : Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your GOD gives you. [Ex 20:12]

Hospitable

Dodge and Blight, from the Union Mission, visited a chief of the Delaware Indians far in the west in around 1824, and made the report :

"he believed there was a devil, and he was afraid of him. These things (he said) he knew were handed down by his ancestors long before William Penn arrived in Pennsylvania. He said, he also knew it to be wrong if a poor man came to his door hungry and naked, to turn him away empty. For he believed God loved the poorest of men better than he did proud rich men. Long time ago, (he added) it was a good custom among his people to take but one wife, and that for life. But now they had become so foolish, and so wicked, that they would take a number of wives at a time; and turn them away at pleasure!"

Gentle and Meek

This is generally so for the Hawaiians, Polynesians, Maoris, Australian Aborigines, .... but seems not to be so with Native Americans.

True, there are Native Americans who are fierce; but in general, the majority of them are rather gentle and meek.

The following is taken from a book published in 1823, "View of Hebrews", of the words of Major Vose at Fort Armstrong,

"I have been informed that in places where the Indians have had the least intercourse with the whites, there the men are the most temperate, and the women most chaste."

As a people they are punctual

Isabella Bird (1831-1904) travelled extensively and has written quite a number of travel books. In Unbeaten Track in Japan, she described the Ainos (migrated Polynesians) in Japan, of how honest and trustworthy and meek they were. (Note : this book may be downloaded from Gutenberg Project).

She also visited Hawaii and has written a book, Six Months in Hawaii, in which she gave testimony of the friendship and hospitality of the Hawaiians.

P.S.

The Native Americans and the Mayans were brothers, the former more savage and the latter more civilized; and they engaged constantly in civil wars. Until around 420 A.D., the Indians destroyed the Mayans as a nation.

Some Mayans sailed overseas many years before that destruction, and they are the Hawaiians, the Polynesians, the Maoris, the Australian aborigines, ... of today.
