LORD's political system Vs. Roman's system

Our present day political system is inherited from the Romans. LORD's political system is described in Judges, Old Testament. The present day system cannot dispense justice promptly, and suffers many shortcomings. I hope we will discuss various aspects of LORD's system (Vs. Roman's system) and the feasibility of its implementation. But any topics of interests to Christians are also welcome.

FOX'S BOOK OF MARTYRS, a book read widely by the English in medieval times

Fox's book was with the Bible in the early English churches, and much read by people of that times.

Additions have been made to that book, after the death of Fox, making that a very thick book. (However, each Chapter may be read independently; even sections within the same chapter may be read independently).

In that book you can find much useful information, e.g. that pertaining to --

  • Martin Luther,

  • John Wickliffe (who first translated the Bible into English. However, 14th century English is vastly different from English of today),

  • William Tyndale (who also translated the New Testament into English. 16th century English resembles English of today, so you can understand most. Both Wickliffe and Tyndale's translations may be found on the internet),

  • John Calvin (who influenced the Christians in Geneva immensely, as well as English Christians who fled to Geneva because of persecution from Queen Mary. Those English Christians returned later to England to be the "Puritans" and many Puritans migrated to USA on "Mayflower"),

  • John Wesley (originator of "Methodists").

That book also contains information on the Quakers, on their persecutions, and their migration to Pennsylvania.

This is a valuable book to all of us in these tumultuous times.

P.S. The books by Winston Churchill, "History of the English-Speaking Peoples" Vols. 1,2,3,4, are very informative on English history.
