LORD's political system Vs. Roman's system

Our present day political system is inherited from the Romans. LORD's political system is described in Judges, Old Testament. The present day system cannot dispense justice promptly, and suffers many shortcomings. I hope we will discuss various aspects of LORD's system (Vs. Roman's system) and the feasibility of its implementation. But any topics of interests to Christians are also welcome.

Re: Why did England prosper in the past ? --- THE REASONS

Why GOD prospered England in the past
-------------------------------------

England gave birth to USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

She had colonies in all parts of the world. Therefore her influence was great.

Why did LORD GOD give such prominence to England and prosper her ?

We must look to her history.

The Gospel of our lord Jesus came to England as early as the 2nd century.

King Alfred, who ruled from 871 ~ 899 A.D., was a very remarkable king, and who believed in Jesus, in GOD.

King Alfred was instructed by a bishop, who taught him verses from the Bible, as well as other worthy writings from godly people.

Alfred became a Christian, he was so humane that he even let his enemy Guthrum go free, on condition that they were baptized.

Alfred inverted the GOLDEN RULE, "What ye will that other men should not do to you, that do ye not to other men". He also commented, "By bearing this precept in mind a judge can do justice to all men; he needs no other law-books. Let him think of himself as the plaintiff, and consider what judgement would satisfy him."

(Incidentally, this inverted GOLDEN RULE was also taught by Confucius, and Chinese justice was similar to that of Alfred's.)

When Alfred was about to die, he taught his son Edward,

"Thou, my dear son, set thee now beside me, and I will deliver thee true instructions. I feel that my hour is coming. My strength is gone; my countenance is wasted and pale. My days are almost ended. We must now part. I go to another world, and thou art to be left alone in the possession of all that I have thus far held. I pray thee, my dear child, to be a father to thy people. Be the children's father and the widow's friend. Comfort the poor, protect and shelter the weak, and, with all thy might, right that which is wrong. And, my son, govern thyself by law. Then shall the Lord love thee, and God himself shall be thy reward. Call thou upon him to advise thee in all thy need, and he shall help thee to compass all thy desires."

The legendry effort of Alfred, together with GOD's laws in the Bible (in Moses' 5 books), which was taught in churches/monasteries, formed the basis of "ancient customs"; and these "ancient customs" found the foundation of the Common Law, which gives us the rights and liberty of today.

Wyclif translated the Bible into English in the 1380s. He also sent out preachers to preach. However, as printing was not popular then, Wyclif's Bible did not influence much.

William Tyndale translated and PRINTED the New Testament in the 16th century. Printing had been invented then.

Later, King James authorized the Christians to make a unified translation, and "King James' Bible (1611)" was printed.

Many people could read the Bible then.

Because many people believed GOD, and feared GOD and walked circumspectly before Him -- they knew that blessing/curse come from GOD, GOD gave them much "talents", and prospered England.

Issac Newton invented Calculus, he was a Christian. Many physicists, chemists, engineers, ..., were godly and religious.

GOD gave them much "gifts", and they invented and discovered a lot. Science, engineering, industry prospered. Industrial revolution came to her.

Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria were both Christians, these, with the Bible printed in England, many people became Christians, and England became a Christian country.

GOD's rule is simple --

KEEP THE LAWS/COMMANDMENTS => BLESSING
BREAK THE LAWS/COMMANDMENTS => CURSE

therefore GOD did as he said, he prospered England.

The lesson of England should be a lesson to all countries and all people. If people learn not from this valuable lesson, and try to invent alternative ways to politics, they will not prosper.

In a later post, I will discuss the decline of England.
