Follow the link to my Google Drive folder with pictures of the car. It is a 9-hour trip to where the car is stored for me, so I am unable to quickly respond to requests for additional pictures.
My grandfather collected antique cars throughout his life and passed away in 1987 with over 24 cars in his two huge shops. I used to spend time in the shop while he was restoring one car or another and that is where I got my car bug from to be sure.
My dad inherited all the cars at Grandpa's passing and planned to thin out the herd and restore a couple in his retirement years. Sadly, I lost Dad suddenly in an accident this August, My brother took his pick and now I have the 19 remaining cars to deal with. None are above what I would call projects.
Here is what I know about the Velie in particular.
Grandpa bought the car in June 1978 at the B.J. Pollard auction in Detroit Michigan. He brought it home to Vienna WV and put it in the shop on jack stands; it hasn't moved to this day. The car was listed as missing in action on the Velie registry when I happened across the web page in 2021 while trying to research the car.
It is listed as a 1926 on the bill of sale, but the gentleman I spoke with about the car from the registry who listed it for sale for us said it is a 1927. It is a model 50 two-door. The frame number is 50 163578 and the motor number is VS53580. Both are visible in the pictures I will attach. I only have a few and they aren't the best, but what I have available at the moment. The car is about 9 hours from my house, so I cannot address additional picture requests easily.
The car has no rot. It has been stored inside out of the weather since it arrived in 1978. The pictures show the car as it sits. It is definitely worth restoration as it is in good overall shape and appears to be mostly in tact. The hood is there, but not installed. I would have to dig to find any other parts not pictured, but this shop is a bit of a hoarder's paradise and is full of stuff.
I am happy to discuss what I can or be willing to take additional pictures on my next trip to WV.
