My colleagues and I at Actual Films are currently producing a documentary special for PBS in the United States based on The Rape of Europa, Lynn Nicholas's history of the fate of art during the Second World War. One part of our story concerns the highly accurate bombing of the marshalling yards at Florence, Italy.

I am very eager to find living veterans of the 319th Bomb Group who remember seeing historic Florence below them as they flew their bombing missions on March 11 and 23, 1944. I am also interested in knowing about preparatory aerial photos that identified the location of historic locations to avoid and about pre-flight briefings that emphasized the protection of these sites.
