Rene Broussard (SSgt?) B-26 Tail Gunner

I am looking for info about my great uncle that flew as tail gunner in WWII on B-26's. When he passed away his wife threw all his papers etc out and no one can give me more than a very short oral history of his service. My family remembers talk of him serving in N Africa and I have exhausted the 17th and 320th possibilites and am hoping someone from here will recognize his name.

His name was Rene (R.L.) Broussard and he was born in Port Arthur, TX. He may have been living in Lafayette, LA when he enlisted and the general feeling is he was originally at Barksdale AFB.

I appreciate any help you all may give me, I am trying to reconstruct a military family tree of my mother and father's families.

One more thing, my mother remembers my grandmother saying he was shot down while serving in the Mediterranean. Not sure if that helps.
