A Tony Soprano Dream

Tony Soprano has a dream in which he rides in the back of his father's old Cadillac: Carmela {his wife} drives and Ralphie {not familiar with this character} sits in front of him with a caterpillar on his bald head that changes into a butterfly or moth. The person next to Tony is Gloria Trillo {Tony's mistress} at first, but changes to Svetlana Kirilenko {nurse & cousin to Irian, another of Tony's mistress}. Tony discusses the dream in therapy and Dr. Melfi {his therapist} suggests that it means that Carmela is in control and Tony wants to square the changes in the lives of the others in the car with her.

Very simple interpretation of the obvious in the dream; Carmela driving the car, she is in control

changes the caterpillar turning into a moth/butterfly
Gloria changing into Svetlana

But can one leave it to the simple and ignore the deeper possibilities? Change or a needed transformation? Besides himself, four of the five characters in his dream are female. And of course we know Tony is following in the footsteps of his father, where he also played second fiddle {back of his father's old Cadillac}.
Oh, what lies beneath the surface of Tony Soprano? With Jung there is that deeper look into the psyche, via the dream. Tony is a fictional TV character {I've only seen a couple of episodes}. But real life motivations can be understood if there is a deeper look into the psyche, learning to recognize the reasons for behaviors, which can be accomplished by delving into the person's deepest psyche. The dream is a direct connection to the psyche. Interpreting a dream is searching the deepest psyche.

I believe there is enough evidence recorded here at the Forum {from the posted dreams and the interpretations} that will verify the truth of these statements. If Tony Soprano can have his dreams analyzed, why not everyone else?
Understanding the simple isn't always easy. Understanding the deeper stuff, that can be frightening. But it needs to be done to find that balance in life. The Dream Forum has become a learning place for many of us and it gives us the opportunity to help others understand their dreams.
If we can provide others with direction, by understanding themself through their dreams, we're doing a good thing, and that motivates me. There is a spiritual aspect within the psyche. A truth, often vertified at the Forum.
As Jung said, those who discover their spiritual Self, discovers their true self.

We all must experience the hero adventure!

Jung also said those of his patients who found a spiritual identity were cured of their illness, psychological, and often physical. And many became Jungian therapists.
