Dream

My friend Clare lost her mum 12 months ago, and keeps having dreams of her sad and crying with no clothes on, and her dad is dreaming the same. The other night she dreamt of her mum sitting on the ground, wearing just a dressing gown, in the cemetary pointing at the headstones. In the back ground were relatives and friends going into a church carrying flowers. When Clare looked at her mum she could see she was crying, when she asked what was wrong, her mum replied she was lonely. This is upsetting my friend and also her dad, could you please help us interpret this dream. Thank you. Sharon

Re: Dream

Sharon,
Dreams reflect the emotions of the dreamer. And they speak in metaphor and symbolic language. Although images of loved ones, people you know, may appear in a dream, they often are symbolic of your own emotions or aspects {see shadow, anima/animus and Self at top of page}. The last part of the dream, which I assume upsets Clare as much as anything, is saying something about Clare's emotions of loniless of no longer having her mum in her life. And it could be addressing some part of the relationship between the two of them when she was alive. But I believe it is mostly addressing Clare's loniliness.

To get a better idea of how dreams function read my page A Simple Guide to Dreams from my Myths-Dreams-Symbols web site.
