Haunted by this one......

Hallo, this is my first posting here. Normally I am pretty good at understanding my dreams and more often than not they do not mean much. This one has got me confused........ just to many simbols and possible meaning.... please help

I am in a "shopping mall" and there is a group of people (with their backs to me, I see no faces) and they are talking and joking about a porn video/DVD where they reconize the people, then I walk away, down a hill, I pick up a single mattress with a faded golden sheet and walks back up the hill. At an intersection (traffic light) there are two women dressed in black Muslin clothing, playing cricket. The one stares at me with very big blue (emotionless) eye (I can only see her eye, the rest is covered).
I carry on up the hill, (with my mattress), I can "feel" the eyes following me. I past the previous shopping mall and the group with the video/dvd is still there, I get to a shop where an old woman is mixing some liquids in big glass containers, I am waiting for her to finishing mixing the liquids and suddenly I see two heads (dead children, but just their heads) floating in one of the containers with liquid, one looks like a small boy and the other looks like a girl, but with a nose like a pig. I wake up............

This dream does not want to go away and it was so clear I can remember every single detail. All imput will be appreciated.

Re: Haunted by this one......

Hello Rika,

Welcome.

Actually, all of our dreams give us helpful information. The key is in learning to determine what...

First, it is important to understand that, in most instances, all characters and elements in a dream are reflecting aspects of one's own life and psyche.

When dreams call our attention so strongly, we can be sure that they have a very important message for us, that we are being urged to see and understand so that we may resolve what is being addressed.

And, do you recall your "feelings" in the dream? The feeling energy of dreams is very important to their understanding, as that is how we find the emotional energy that dreams are addressing.

The first part of the dream (group in mall [public place]telling and joking about porn with backs turned) may be telling of feelings of guilt around sexuality.

You walk away and are now carrying a "mattress," on which sexual interactions normally occur. Walking up a hill with a mattress is to carry a heavy load...yes?

Something weighty/burdensome about this situation surrounding sexuality...rightness/wrongness...bad feelings?

I like that your dream maker gave you a "golden" sheet, perhaps implying (assuring you) that whatever is contained in this old ("faded") memory is valuable.

I pause to remind in this moment that Carl Jung (father of analytical psychology, are you familiar with him?) asserted that one's shadow (that which we have relegated to the unconscious) is "pure gold." "All" of you is pure gold.

You come to an intersection with traffic light... An intersection can imply a decision point, a cross roads...a meeting place...a place of fate (so to speak)...

Here, you meet a woman that I feel is a very helpful, valuable messenger. She is wearing black, so grief may be associated with whatever memory or experience the dream is calling your attention to. We can also see her as a "messenger of the unconscious," a part of you that can see (big blue eyes)/helps you to see what needs attention.

The dream (woman in black) then carries you back to the same shopping mall (a place where we search and shop for things that reflect who we are) with the same group of persons talking of porn.

I often find that the very beginning of a dream presents the problem, and later scenes go on to help to define/address the issue.

We may say the woman in black is "mixing a potion," or, "stirring the waters of memory," looking into the unconscious, to help you see and understand. A very beneficial character/aspect, the part of you that knows.

Dead children's faces appearing: may = some old forgotten memory. And it may well have to do with early life experiences.

It may be good to study your feeling response to the little girl having a nose like a pig... How would a person (the world) feel and respond to a little girl with a nose like a pig? And why would we, or any, place such a projection on an (innocent)/child? I think she is the key to understanding this dream's message. And she may be some young part of you. And she too is pure gold!

I feel that if you trust and befriend the dream, more will become clear to you.

I hope some of this may be helpful to you.

Best Wishes,
Kristi

Re: Haunted by this one......

Hi Rika,
Most dreams are pretty much a fundamental review of your waking life. But all dreams are important because they provide an unbiased view of the true emotional experience instead of relying on the emotional vision of the waking ego. Dreams provide an unfiltered objective view whereas the ego more often sees only the subjective view to each experience. And some dreams are most important because they look deeper into the life cycle to provide insights to why you who you are and why you act as you do as you age. Whatever is emotionally out of balance and needs attention is the subject of these deeper dreams.

Dreams are therapeutic, an attempt to sort through the emotional baggage to help balance what is out of balance. Think of dreams much like the body's immune system. It is a natural and evolutionary aspect where the psyche provides relief through a system of corrections offered through the nightly visits into the unconscious. Except the language used is of symbol and metaphor. Understanding the language is no longer a great mystery. We need only to understand the emotional life of the individual, conscious and unconscious, to understand what dreams are trying to communicate. And what is not consciously understood is presented in our dreams to bring about a recognition of the energies of the emotional stimulus caused by some experience{s} in life.

As for your dream. I am going to go out on a limb and give what I see as a strong possibility of your dream. Your country of origin is borderline when it comes to cultural possibilities but I am looking at the probability there is an Islamic influence involved. That is central to my interpretation and if wrong then we would need to look at other possibilities, although not entirely dismissing my observations.

Cultural aspects can play a large role in dreams. I sense there may be such cultural evidence in your dream {women dressed in black Muslin clothing}. It may be a commentary on how you internally view aspects of your life, which may be opposite the values placed on you by cultural requirements. Although you sense how you view this aspect, it may be more of a guilt complex you possess more so than actual waking criticisms from others {I see no faces}.

Two things that could relate to each other. One is the porn video/DVD. The other is the mattress. Could there be sexual involvement to these symbols? Or thoughts of taboos in a relationship. Or relationships in general. The cultural requirements of many Islamic countries is of arranged marriages. Is there a case of thinking outside those requirements, something that would be looked upon as 'pornography' in the cultural sense?
Guilt may be symbolized by the big blue staring eye. The guilt of such thinking is something you may be consciously, or unconsciously, carrying around with you.
Are you mentally 'shopping' for a relationship? Thoughts of amour and not abiding by the cultural laws?

The dead children, one of each sex. This may be alluding to your cultural upbringing, residual affects of the influences of imprinting having to do with obeying the cultural laws of your country. Are there thoughts of rebelling against these cultural requirements?

Does any of the above fit with your life? Again the cultural aspect is important in my assessment and although I may be giving too much to that, there may be elements of truth even without those cultural influences.
Let me know your thoughts. What little I know about you can perhaps be expanded through a response and provide better insights to your life.

Re: Haunted by this one......

Ah yes, the pig! I had overlooked that part of the dream. Are not pigs looked upon as unclean in Islamic law? Again I am looking at cultural aspects and if they do not apply then, never mind.

If it were only that easy to dismiss, huh. Never mind?

Kristi's interpretation seems to be following the same general train of thought {which is evident of our Jungian training in dream psyche}. Is there a 'load' you are carrying, one that is of perhaps guilt? It is the girl who has the pig's nose and not the boy. Culturally, in Islam, women are subjective to men, and any thoughts of independence is looked upon as 'unclean'.

Re: Haunted by this one......

I just "replied", but cannot find it, so my apologies if I double posted this.....

Thank you very much, Kristi & Jerry, for your imput, it is appreciated. I am familiar with Jung and understand that a simbols can mean differedt things to different people. You asked about my feelings in this dream - for the most part there are no feeling (just going throught the motions), accept right in the beginning when I walk away from the group talking about the DVD, I feel sad and then right at the end when I see the two heads in the liquid, I feel surprised (not shocked, just surprised).
I agree that the two head might be the key to the whole thing.

I like the Muslim take, but I am not Muslim, I am not religious, but I grew up Christian and (apart from the different prophets) the two religions are realy very similar, so I cannot totally discard what you are saying, it actually helped a lot, I have always been the "back sheep" in a conservative family. My view of love, live and all things else is very much different from what I was taught. At some stage it did bother me, but I think I am over that, this is my life, but it makes things difficult at times and I have done things that is suppose to be a big NO, which did cause conflict and unhappiness.

The bit about the dream I understand (with your help) at this point is that I have eventually made peace with the fact that I am different, there are no bad feeling about it, just maybe some sadness, but I have been "up a hill and down a hill", I have growns, while these people are still stuck in the same spot, busy gossiping, which means it was all worth it.

The one bit I still don't get is the end, all the liquids being mixed and the two heads. Not being Muslin, I do not think pig are dirty or unclean, actually I have been vegeratian most of my live, just don't see meat as food. The liquids being mixed could be spritual confusion, mixing of ideas and cultures, but what are the two heads doing in my "spritual mix"?
The boy is much smaller than the girl, with dark hair and very pale skin, where this girl's head is bigger and blond, with the piggy nose. I do not dislike children, but I am not mad about them either, I do not get this part.

Re: Haunted by this one......

As the other respondents have indicated, there is a connection to a sexual concern, a taboo perhaps. And in things we repress is often where we'll find that gold. You have the matress that is telling you to look at that issue - it's golden sheet. Maybe what you think is a taboo needs to be surfaced.
And because you're carrying this idea up, which I think indicates bringing it to consciousness, you are having to make a decision; not only indicated by the intersection but the two women. I see them as a dichotomy - the number two having to do with contrast and distinction. This is an inner process that must be more felt about than analyzed - again because of the female content.
Then you have the old wise woman, your inner feminine side, with the classic Alchemical solutio...the glass incubating a communion of male & female ...but not alive. Maybe not alive yet? You say they're dead so i'll have to agree to your feeling that one out.
But now you're seeing faces where you didn't at the mall. So this aspect of you is finally getting a face and it's got an immaturity (because of them being children) so it's a fairly new concept to you.
Whatever it is, be it a taboo or repressed feeling, it's going to require your help to breath life back into it! And again, there's something around the feminine quality that is deformed. The nose is a breathing thing, so maybe you're not keeping your feeling side breathing?

If this fits your intuition and feeling, please honor your dreams message with a thanking ritual - it can be simple or detailed. But it will send a message to your inner self that you're working on its message. It will breath that life into it. All the best and hope this helps.
