Birth by Cesarean

Dear All,

I'm currently a few weeks pregnant, and just recently i had a dream i saw myself giving birth by cesarean. Unfortunately i can't remember anything else but more or less seeing the baby being taken out of me by doctors. I'm not sure if there was any complication involved in the dream, it was just like a normal cesarean, i suppose. In my physical life, i'm not sure whether i will be having a cesarean, i really hope i don't because i suffer from ITP, which means my blood tends to have a low platelet count. Therefore, could this dream be an anxiety dream or a prophetic one? Your advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Re: Birth by Cesarean

Jocelyn,
The fact you are pregnant may have something to do with your dream. The thought of having a cesarean may be unconsciously troubling you. That would make it an anxiety dream. I don't believe there are elements that suggest a prophetic dream.

Another possibility, one that will occur for someone who is not pregnant, is the new born being taken by cesarean is not about a real birth but about some other aspect in your life where something new is being taken from you, perhaps by force {vaginal birth being the natural birthing method}. Dreams usually speak in symbols and metaphor. The new baby being taken 'out of you' would be symbolic of something else. If you were not pregnant I would look to this possibility first.

But you are pregnant with a physical condition that may make it difficult to have a cesarean birth. Most likely with your condition {ITP} this is an anxiety dream. Consciously you may not be worried but unconsciously it is a different story. Dreams reveal the truth of the matter, the unconscious emotions always coming through as they really are and not how you may consciously feel.

If there are future dreams involving the same subject matter post them and perhaps we will be able to better understand the possibilities.

Re: Birth by Cesarean

Thanks Jerry,

My doctor said that it would be preferable to give natural birth with my condition (fingers crossed), which would have alerted my unconscience. I will certainly keep you posted if i have any further dream relating to my pregnancy. Thanks so much. :) Joce

Re: Birth by Cesarean

Jocelyn ,
Good luck with the new baby. I think you are right about the 'alerting your unconscious'. Anxiety fears are a common stable for our dreams especially when such good things are about to become a reality {new baby}. The psyche tends to balance the whole self by reminding us there are always those negative possibilities. But that is a good thing, keeping you aware and providing time and info {dreams can provide information you are often unaware of} to prepare for all possibilities.

One thing I have found to be true with anxiety. If you do prepare, do all you can do, the anxieties are always for naught. The old saying, and one of the creeds I live by, is
"do all you can do and don't worry about the rest".
