I was at the chiropractor's office and his assistant was examining me. In shock he told the chiropractor that the organs behind my ribcage had all rotted and that I'd be dead within 2 years. The chiropractor didn't believe him, but then he touched my rib and I screamed in pain. He had a look of pity in his face and then told the assistant to take me out and buy me a nice journal then come back for the remainder of the appointment.

First, not to worry. Death or dying {including impending death} does not literal mean a real death. Dreams speak in a language of symbols and metaphor. You are not going to die.

What the dream might mean.
The organs behind the ribcage include the heart. Have you experienced
matters of the heart' recently in your waking life? Romantic matters or experiences having to do with emotions of the heart? A chiropractor is a 'doctor' that provides 'advice' and support on healing. So do dreams, they are therapeutic in the same sense as the immune system of the body. The two years may have practical meaning in your real waking life {look for possibilities having to do with the number two}. The two could represent 'two' people, you and that other person your emotional heart is in need of healing. The pain would be emotional pain you are or have recently suffered. The pity most likely would be self pity. Buying a journal may suggest you need put the past into history, move on with your life.
