9K winner...

I would first like to thank you for your consideration to interpret my crazy and wild dreams previously posted, they have enlightened me in many ways.

Now, I am currently stressing because of being in a financial bind, and lately your comments were geared towards not relying on self, but exception and closure etc.

For the passing nights my dreams have either been about winning at a slot machine or lottery ticket. READ: Last night's dream I purchased a scratch off lottery ticket, and I won the amount of $9000.00. Funny thing, the "OLE DREAM Book" states "remembering the numbers forcasts good luck." Man, what's up with that? The nights before it was $8080.00 at the slot machine, clear as the sun shining into my window the morning later. Awww heck, I confess if I can get myself/family out of this financial crunch by "gambling," I'd chance it but I was told that the dreams mean totally opposite, and that they're only visions of the real hardship I am going through. If in fact this is true, then I guess I better prepare myself for more "Vegas" nights while sleeping; I'm in debt.

Re: 9K winner...

Latoya,
I can see why you hold on to and consult your 'Ole Dream book'. You are searching for resources that will help you with your financial difficulties. Dreams are about the emotions and although your dream book may provide an interesting financial guide it does not consider the individual emotional state of being of the dreamer. Even the best dream dictionary should be used as a reference and never as a concrete resource to dream symbols. I often use such books to stimulate my thinking but the essence of what I use as a definition of a symbol comes from the individual dream motif, and an intuitive approach to interpreting the dream. I would look to the 'emotional stress' for the answers to why you are having these dreams.
I would place your 'Ole Dream book' on the shelve and let it gather dust since it is at best a dusting way to interpreting dream symbols.

But I regress. Let's consult a reliable dream symbol resource {HyperDictionary} to see what 'suggestions' it offers up as possible meanings of symbols.

Lottery: Dreaming of playing the lottery, suggests that you are relying too much on fate instead of taking responsibility for your own actions/decisions.

Ah! Ha! Wishful thinking is a common theme in dreams {one Freudian concept that is acceptable}. Do you play the lottery? {I do, a dollar at best. And it is to fulfill a wish that alleviates a financial concern}. Perhaps you are placing too much emphasis on fateful events instead of doing 'all you can do to help yourself'. Constantly consulting your 'Ole Dream book' would suggest such a possibility. You may be 'gambling' too much on fate.

As for the winning amount in your dream, $9000, not a large amount for lottery winners. That number could be addressing two possibilities. One is an 'archetypal aspects of dreams {including what I think of as modern archetypal images that are constant, such as a house or a car}. In Jungian psyche the number 9 is representative of wholeness, or more directly the feminine aspect that is key to wholeness. That is the central wish of all of us, to have that wholeness in life where there are no obstacles to financial as well as other personal difficulty aspects in life.
The other possible association to the number nine may be personal. For someone like myself where 9 is an important symbol, seeing that number in dreams {as well as waking life} would be stimulus for the inclusion of it in a dream. Does that number have any personal associations? Or has it come up in your waking life recently?

Your statement "Awww heck, I confess if I can get myself/family out of this financial crunch by "gambling," I'd chance it" could be a strong enough emotional to stimulate such a dream. If there is a lopsided approach to life, as in gambling away your life, then the dream will try to compensate by showing the dreamer what that 'lopsided' approach is. It again suggests you may be putting too much emphasis on 'luck' instead of doing those things necessary to help correct your financial situation. It is a lot like expecting 'God' to help you in a situation when 'he/she' has given you the free will to help yourself.

As for the dream meaning the 'opposite' of what it shows. That is not rue. The dream means exactly what is says. The only problem is understanding what it is saying. The symbolic/metaphorical language of dreams is difficult at best to understand. No one can say a symbols means 'this' or 'that' other than the 'archetypal' symbols I pointed to earlier}. Dreams address the emotional conflicts in the dreamer's life and whatever is in conflict the dream is attempting to help the dreamer resolve. It is the 'true' you the dream is looking at and not what the ego self perceives to be the true condition of the life. The ego self may think 'I will chance' my life on gambling away the possibilities I should have control over. But in reality, the reality of a balanced psyche that has wisdom and uses objective thinking, that is lopsided and being such the dream will try to inform the dreamer of the one sided thinking with the intent to help correct it. This is the therapeutic value of dreams {as with the body with its immune system, NATURE has provided a mechanism for the 'brain' also to help resolve emotional issues}.

Look at yourself and determine if there is a 'lopsided' approach to your life. With great stress there is often dangerous thoughts that can cause things to get worse. Objectivity is most important, and learning to rely on your own resources to get you where you want in life. The only reliable source of the 'helping hands of fate' that I can give credit is the one in the 'hero journey'. And that path is a long journey to take if you rely too heavily on 'Ole Dream' books as a guide.

I don't recall having any connection, or concerns with the number 9, at least experience with it past or present. However,I did read up on dreaming about that amount, specifically that number (9). I should be content right now, but I am actually stressing like a B**ch. I have tried to rely on my own work and worth, to pull myself out of this "only for a moment" financial bind. Lately, only to find myself slapping the heck out of those suction valves of money, they call slot machines. I have been worrying so much, about not being able to afford to live, to survive, and support my family ridiculously.

"Dreams address the emotional conflicts in the dreamer's life and whatever is in conflict the dream is attempting to help the dreamer resolve."

I know that I need to relax, relate, and release. So, I am going to pay close attention to these occuring dreams, have you to interpret, and adhere to what they are telling me. No promise of hitting it big in the casino, but invest in my ability to make it through life with hardwork and endurance.

Thank You!

Re: 9K winner...

Latoya,
"invest in my ability to make it through life with hard work and endurance." That is easier said than done but what other alternatives are there? To simply give up will never do. Whether you know it or not you are being the heroine by giving of yourself for your family. Take some comfort in knowing that anyone who undertakes the hero journey on a conscious level has 'helping hands' {what many call angels} to help you through the turmoil that is life. There is a formula in the hero journey that will work. But in the end it all comes down to you doing the leg work. Nature has a mechanism that lends itself to 'doing good brings about good'. What goes around comes around. What you do in life ultimately determines what life does to you. You can control that and the emotional issues involved in who you are in the present is the most important aspect of taking control. Take control of your life by being positive, looking for the positive, and being a positive influence for your family. With hard work and a belief that 'good comes to good' naturally, you will be surprised at how nature will provide in 'helping' you overcome whatever it is in your life that is an obstacle to wholeness ad happiness.

And shelve your 'Ole Dream book'. It only makes you focus on one aspect of living. The emotional issues are what you need to interpret, and understand.
