Re: dungeons dream

Arya,
The beginning of your dream begins with you walking in some kind of dungeons. The opening of a dream, or the expose, usually sets the tone to what the dream is trying to communicate. Considering your age, 14, we will need to expand the possibilities beyond the normal range of usually symbolic definitions we would use with an older person. Let's first examine the symbols in the context of an older person's dream and see where that leads and if it fits with your life.

Dungeons are dark underground chambers used to confine 'prisoners'. Such underground places are usually symbolic of the unconscious mind, experiences buried within the psyche. The 'prisoner's would be your buried experiences, or aspects about you and your life. Not remembering what was happening may suggest repression of these experiences, or forgetting they happened. The one you do remember has to do with your grandmother. It has bats which could represent 'demons' in one context or, in another that does not denote 'evil' experiences, annoying habits, a more simple explanation and possibility.

So, with the beginning of the dream directly pointing to dungeons the question would be, are there bad or evil experiences in your life that have to do with your grandmother or is the dream pointing to annoying habits she may possess that unconsciously bother you? There is the possibility your grandmother is not your true grandmother but is symbolic. She would represent a wiser self, or possibly nurture and protection which would take us back to deeper aspects of the 'dungeons' and evil possibilities. That aspect would be speaking to even earlier life experiences while the annoying habits would be something that has happened recently in your waking life.
Determine which fits and you then can take of the rest of the dream and apply it to that scenario. Number one would be deep personal negative experiences you have buried deep in your unconscious and the second annoying habits either your grandmother possess or are characteristics you possess and need to eliminate {it may be you possess habits your grandmother possesses}. If it is the second the rest of the dream would be addressing those experiences and would not be something you necessarily be need to be greatly worried about. If it is the first then it would be important to discover the repressed experiences and find a way to help resolve the emotional trauma. Answer this question and go from there. A response may help determine more about the dream and your 'unconscious' life. If the second is true and there is not 'bed/evil' experiences from your earlier life then you can pretty much ignore the following analysis.

Taking the symbols as deeper repressed experiences we encounter a priest. Remember you are delving deep into your unconscious and the dream is trying to expose these deep emotional experiences in an effort to help resolve them {a primary function of dreams}. The priest, who is not a 'priest of God' would probably represent feelings of guilt and a need to repent. That would fit with real life experiences where someone so young would be made to feel guilty for what someone else had done to them. Every God or Goddess may suggest every part of your 'higher being', masculine as well as feminine aspects, were affected by these experiences. The hate would be an inner hate of yourself, an unconscious hate produced by past emotional experiences. And probably a hate for those who were responsible.

Walking back up the stairs would be these unconscious contents trying/wanting/needing to be made conscious. But that would reveal a life that is a desert of real emotions, an unhappy life if revealed. The vampire may be experiences that emotionally drain you of positive energy. The immortal part would be the experiences that refuse to die, they are not yet fully conscious and live in the unconscious forever {until revealed, confronted and resolved}. The father symbol may involve your true father in some way but likely is symbolic of the power of the unconscious contents.

The last part of the dream involving the boy and archery may be speaking to organizing these experiences so they can be brought to conscious realization and find a resolution {archery would symbolize organizing the unconscious contents and finding a way to achieve the goal of bringing the unconscious contents to consciousness}. Your whole being, masculine and feminine {the union of opposites} has been affected by these emotional experiences. You are crying on the inside, if not on the outside also {do you often feel depressed?}. The archery games outside would be the unconscious contents being consciously realized, acted out. When that is done you will begin a resolution to the emotional turmoil within.

Let me stated again, if there are not negative/bad experiences in your life that you have pushed into the unconscious {consciously they probably affect your waking life in negative ways} then ignore the last part of the interpretation. Look to recent experiences in your waking life that left a negative impression {something you experienced that made you feel bad, possibly guilty for some reason}. But if you have had a bad early life then it may fit. Emotional or physical abuse may be possible. Or it may be there was not that loving environment in which you have grown up and overall you lack a positive direction in life {a common experience for many of us}. Let me know your answer to these questions and perhaps we can determine which direct to look for a solution.

Jerry
