a killing and a wedding

Hello
I have some understanding of Jung's symbols and archetypes and am a student of mythology. However, I need a little help with this one, though most of it might be obvious!
Two dreams this morning, separate but inter-related.
1) I dreamt that there was a dead man in my home. I didn't know how he came to be in my 'dream' home but I assumed that I had killed him. So I had to get the body in a van and bury it. Somebody helped me (don't know who, but I trusted them). My dog (now dead in reality) was with us too. It seemed that all was well and I had got away with it. I was attending some kind of ball at a castle when people rushed in to say they had found my dog covered in blood and that he had killed a man. My dog was going to be shot and on top of that I realised that I would be found out for the crime, even though I wasn't sure I had even committed it since I couldn't remember having done so.

2) Following on from this I was about to be married to my ex (in reality my ex was an abusive drug addict, I have two children from him). It's a big occasion in a beautiful elaborate catholic church (neither of us is christian let alone catholic). Every one is waiting for us. I can't find him, then eventually I see him in the front pew dressed in scruffy clothes. I 'wake up' and realise I don't want to marry him so request to be married to myself. But I am still aware of the killing episode and even asking myself in my dream who it is that I have killed off/ what aspect of myself I have killed off in order to make this marriage with my animus.

Re: a killing and a wedding

Marianne,
Could it be what is 'dead' is the passion {blood} you once possessed, before the negative experiences with your ex? This could refer to many types of passion; sex, passion for a relationship, life in general. It could involve your 'spiritual' nature, or aspects related to the metaphysical self {the Catholic ceremony is all about rituals and having knowledge of Jungian psyche the value of rituals in life would be well known}. These experiences, lose of your passion, have left you not able to be our true self. You need to rediscover that true self, re-marry that true being within to be able to realize that lost passion. This loss is likely related to the relationship with your ex. How much of your true being was lost because of that? Are there creative {metaphysical} aspects that need to be rediscovered so to be yourt true self?

Re: a killing and a wedding

Thanks so much for your insightful reply. I am aware of the importance of ritual and do work it in to my life as much as possible. I hadn't connected the blood with passion. Certainly, I was forced to compromise much of myself and passion within that relationship. Since then I have been learning story and myth and exploring Jungian theory in order to heal. Anyway, I'm going to have a think on all of that, thanks again.
