under water

Hi Jerry and others,

I cannot re-collect the whole dream but as I remember I was in a swimming pool. I was possibly with my partner (currently we have a separation of sorts). This person was also possibly a teacher. Anyway, we, together were going to go underwater, as a lesson of sorts. The idea was to hold the breath for longest. I remember going straight down below, him behind me. I remember his penis was erect, and he pulled it out. I was confused about the reason and perhaps he inserted it inside me just a little. I cannot remember for sure. What I do remember is as we reached the surface after being underwater, he had a condom on and he showed it to the supervisors to show he was taking precautions. Hmmmm...interesting hey?

My personal interpretation is that somehow there are issues of trust, issues of shadows and small untruths, perhaps I feel he is more superior, but together we have gone down below to learn something or we have fallen down together?

I appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thank you and regards, M

Re: under water

Magdalena,
One recurring theme in your dream {as you pointed to} is the masculine aspect is always in a superior position and there is a need to demonstrate it {pulling out his erect penis and showing his supervisors}. There may sexual connotations to consider in the relationship. You may feel he is being a little too demonstrative in his attitude.

As for shadow aspects nothing stands out for me. But being your dream any intuitive recognition on your part must be considered. Is there something specific in the dream you feel points to shadow elements? Remember, shadow figures are usually of the same gender as the dreamer.

Re: under water

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your comments. Is there any thing else you can read from it? I.e being underwater, diving feet down first, the condom etc?

regards m

Re: under water

Magdalena,
Being underwater would represent the unconscious. Water is the unconscious and being underwater may suggest you are under the control of the emotions. A swimming pool holds a small amount of water {compared to a river, lake or ocean} so there could be unconscious motivations involved, a complex or developed pattern of behavior learned from early life experiences/influences {childhood}. Such motivations may play a part in relationships.

Diving feet first may also be saying something about early life 'foundations'. feet are what hold you up, the foundations that support you in life. If there are feelings of feeling inferior to your partner it may have to do with developed early life patterns. What is the reason for your separation? Can you see patterns that might fit with your parents? You grew up with those influences and they would be a part of who you are as an adult.

The condom is something that 'covers up' or is protection against something {perhaps sexually, perhaps not}. Take that and substitute it in the dream and see if it makes sense. With any symbol you are looking for a metaphor {condom/protection-water/unconscious}. Compare the metaphors to your actual waking life and seeing where they fit is how you understand the symbolic reference in the dream.
