another dream

Having dreams every night that I remember. Had one last night about learning to fly a helicopter and taking lessons. It was difficult managing but did OK. An old friend was the instructor and when he took over I was a little nervous but we were safe. The last part of the dream I was in a darkened barracks at night, I think there was a war or military conflict going on in the distance. When I opened the door the wind was blowing hard and I had a hard time closing it, In fact I couldn't close it despite fighting it. I was wasn't sure if it was a person or just the wind on the other side?

Re: Football and Cat dream

Bob,
I'll give an analysis of your dreams Sunday morning. I have pending personal business today which will require all my attention {which means too much objective thinking and too little intuitive sensing which isn't good when analyzing dreams}.

Re: Football and Cat dream

Bob,
My sense of the two dreams is you are in an environment and/or phase of competition where you feel you need to prove yourself. In your conscious life there may be actual experiences involving younger men that are a part of your environment, one where you naturally would not fit in {at 51 having already experienced that stage of life} but feel a need for respect. You may have had recent positive experiences in regards to the respect issue but need/want/expect more of the same from this group/environment. There may have been recent changes in your life that make you believe a repeat of this positive experience is unlikely. Your deceased cat may be referencing a transitional phase in your life where the competitive environment has become too emotional and you need to find a better balance.

As for an inner experience {dreams address both waking life experiences and inner life experiences using the same symbols}, you may be at that level in your midlife transition where you need to move beyond the competitive world and seek a better balance of social interaction with other interests, especially those to do with creative endeavors. Psychologically the midlife stage can be a constant stream of transitional experiences and when you reach a certain point/age you begin to focus less on the outer social requirements {career, competitive interactions} and more on the inner life of meaning and reflection. The new coach is yourself in the same body but with new expectations. At 51 physically you can not do the same things when you were 21 nor would you want to do {if you have a healthy psyche}. But at 51 you have not completely lost your competitive spirit but because of the realization {unconscious if not consciously} you know you need to grab your emotional self {cat} by the tail and land on all fours {four in Jungian psyche is the number for balance and wholeness}. Moving forward in your life {moving vehicle} you must find this balance or you will 'end up on a losing team' psychologically.

Re: another dream

Bob,
A general rule of thumb in analyzing dreams is all the unknown people {and often the known people} represent you or some aspect of yourself you identify with {in known persons}. The interaction with unknown people usually represents interactions with your own emotional self. Interactions with known people can represent the same as well as actual waking interactions with them {especially and in particular people in your life you have deep emotional attachment to}. In this light, in your dream the old friend instructor would be a wisdom aspect of yourself, an aspect you are not entirely familiar with and thus not that confident in {this may be addressing the competitive aspects from your previous dream posts}. Flying a helicopter could represent managing your personal life, your accomplishments in life and past ambitions. You probably have done very well in attaining goals in your professional as well as personal life {difficult managing but did OK}.

But there are now conflicts in your life, inner and outer conflicts {military war}. The strong winds are strong emotional forces that are now blowing in your psychological life {the transition of midlife}. When you consciously open up to these new dimensions in life {midlife transitions} you find them to be very forceful at times which require some real discipline to maintain your normal self and routine {the wind represent strong changes in life}. Despite your efforts to hold off the invading emotions {retaining a strong drive of competitiveness in your waking life that are opposite your changing self} you can not avoid the natural processes in life. You are on the 'other side' of life, another advanced stage of life, one called aging and hopefully wisdom from your experiences. The person on the other side that feels like the wind is the resistance to go willingly into the natural changes in life. You need to stop fighting yourself and let nature take its course. In doing that you will not only receive respect from others {the wisdom will be obvious} you will also respect yourself.
