Soul and Egg

This is a dream i had a couple of weeks ago. The dream starts out with me walking alone deep in the night in a very vacant area where there's mostly warehouses, which kind of resembled Hollywood warehouses, and i seem to be attempting to find a way out or a refuge to stay in fearing I'll eventually encounter some danger. While walking hastily, i see to my right, very far away, a group of thugs with tattoos all over their face, with skimpy clothing, and maybe one or two of them were hiding knives. I can sense how dangerous they were as they could barely stand to be around each other and may kill one another at any moment. Before one of them slightly turns their head to my direction, i luckily turn to find this weird wooden mansion house that didn't seem that large or tall from the outside and I fearfully go inside in hope of escaping the thugs.

As soon as i enter through the door, there was a bunch of people within this one large room that seemed as wide and spacious as a publix or walmart supermarket. They were just all walking around conversing and, Waiting, for something. They were all wearing black robes that almost reached their feet. The architecture of the whole room seemed very weird, it clearly contradicted the appearance from the outside. It resembled a dome theater in that there was nothing in front of me on the floor and far from me, at least 20 or 3o feet, were seats which were identical in design to those of a dome theater, seats which rose and rose. There seemed to be a screen high up on the wall near the ceiling, as high as where the seats ended up top and there, sitting, were what I'm guessing were, members?, each wearing the black robes, eagerly waiting for something, possibly something on the screen.

At this point, I was getting a very cult-like vibe. Everything seemed very cult-like and weird. As I'm taking all of this in, some kid who played baseball and went to my high school(I used to play baseball for a good amount of years when i was younger before high school) and whom i barely knew or talked to at all walked right by, in front of me, and greeted me as he walked by, it was just getting weirder and weirder. (The cult-like vibe really began to remind me of the movie featuring tom cruise called "Eyes Wide Shut". Towards the end of the movie, tom cruise enters some large rich mansion under some strange circumstances not knowing what to expect and begins to see a lot of members of the cult, all wearing masks and black robes, some of them nude with masks only, engaging in large amounts of profane sexual orgies and acts all over different areas of the mansion).

Once i became aware of the cult-like atmosphere, I try to see if there's some other part of the mansion i can go to in order to get away from all the strange things going on. I instantly end up walking through a hallway with doors on both sides. Everything in this hallway is wooden, the doors, the walls, the floor; unlike the room in which all the members were residing in, which was mostly white, dark blue, and gray. And unlike the other area of the mansion, there is not much bright fluorescent light or much light at all in this hallway, nor is there any windows, but i can still see everything pretty clearly. Also, unlike the other area, the ceiling is an average height, I could probably jump up and touch it. As I'm walking, I see something on the wall near the ceiling, the spot where you usually see a moose skull or some type of animal skull someone has hung up, but i cant make out what it is at all, it was too obscure.

As I'm walking through the hallway, there seems to be only two doors that i see open, although there is more rooms. As I walk by the first open door, i see a room with a very dark and ominous aura inside. It's a very small room, and on the bed which is not far from the door, there is a female angel who is sitting and looking down with her hands covering her face, while this large black obscure ominous aura or gas is pervading the wall, ceiling, and top part of her head; her halo was still visible though. On the right side of the room, there is a table which has on top of it, a mirror and an old medieval lantern that still had light.

Shocked by what I saw, i kept walking, and as I looked into the other room, all i saw was a table with a white cloth put over the whole table, and on the top of the table was a large egg 2x the size of a watermelon. The egg was golden and had a very weird energy. the walls of the room were red and the floor was a dark red. There seemed to be a dark cloudish aura moving through the walls as the egg just remained atop the table. This was the weirdest part of the dream for me because this last scene Identically resembled a painting i had seen weeks prior to the dream. It is a painting by the artist leonora carrington, a surrealist artist. I really encourage you to look up the painting, as it will give a beautiful depiction of what i saw. The painting is entitled "Ab Eo Quod" by Leonora Carrington. the difference between the painting and my dream is that the only thing saw in my dream was the table, egg, and room. Nothing else from the painting was seen inside the room within my dream.

I also kept reading, after the dream, quotes and different stories about Carl Jung where someone kept bringing up the quote "God is in the egg"! So i hope i didn't make the story too long or daunting but any analysis is appreciated. This dream was just too strange and vivid.

Re: Soul and Egg

Abriel,
I won't break down all the images because there are so many. Here is my analysis in summary.

This is your life, vacant areas {emotional} stored emotions {warehouses}, emotional energies that can be consciously threatening {unconscious motivators you may not be aware of, ignore or repress}. The thugs are those emotional energies. Only by going within {psychological} can you elevate yourself out of the control of these emotional energies. You have difficulty in doing this. And because of these unconscious motivations {early life influences/experiences} you are emotionally vulnerable and susceptible to be easily influenced {may be pointing to spiritual or religious influences}. The egg may be promises of greater things, your vulnerable emotions. The egg image and the surroundings may be archetypal and the painting holding the key to the emotional influences the dream is attempting to convey. There may be a warning because your attention is focused solely on the egg and table. From the painting: words 'Ab eo, Quod nigram caudum habet abstine terrestrium enim decorum est'. This roughly translates as: 'Keep away from any with a black tail, indeed, this is the beauty of the earth.' You are in need of a transformation but what you are entertaining may be more emotionally dangerous than you realize.

Look at the symbolize of the painting and apply it to your life in context to recent experiences. Pay attention to the influences I noted. See this page {scroll down to the photo of the egg}. http://christiengholson.blogspot.com/2012/04/world-of-leonora-carrington-part-ii.html

Re: Soul and Egg

That was a great analysis. Leonora Carrington is definitely one of my favorite painters. I've been meaning to do more research and studies on her and her work especially because of her great use of alchemical symbolism in her paintings. I got great insight from that analysis, and i will definitely try my best to instill the message seen within the dream, into my life. I've been trying to remember some more dreams recently but I haven't remembered one in a while, but when i do, ill definitely give the dream to you for help with analysis.

Re: Soul and Egg

Abriel,
The creative aspects, painting, writing, music, and in my case web design are expressions of the true self. Jung discovered within us all a spiritual aspect and creativity is one aspect of the spiritual Self because we are sharing from the soul when we create to share with others. When a person takes on the task of traveling 'inward' {a psychological search} they not only begin to resolve emotional conflicts/issues they also discover their true being. This is most always based on creative abilities {or spiritual endeavors such as serving others in some way}. Your connecting with this painting suggests there is something within it that touches your soul. Often whatever that is the person/persona that painted it had similar experiences/issues. They are expressing the true self through the painting, the creative aspect.

The same hold true for myths. They are the universal patterns of experience/behavior and the storyteller/writer is expressing a pattern within their psyche. The myth is the collective/universal dream, the dream a personal myth. Dreams and myths share the same archetypal images and energies. The 'energies' expressed in a story or even a painting that touches ones soul usually possesses properties that affect the person who examines the creative piece. Learning from a story, realizing the meaning from a painting, can help a person realize, understand and resolve personal issues. Our dreams reveal what is true in the soul as well as the personal psyche. Bringing out what is within can bring about wholeness {I say can to illustrate the importance of discipline in staying the path and following through}. In doing this the person becomes a hero in their own life and often a hero in other people's lives. The hero pattern is what the myths are all about.

Re: Soul and Egg

Thanks for the response, sorry for the late reply, didn't know you were gonna reply back one more time. Almost remembered a dream the other day, but not quite. When i do though, i would love to bring it to you for analysis. I've become very interested, over the years, in searching inward; mostly because at a younger age I always had a good understanding and foundation of my inner landscape, but that slowly changed, so now there's a lot of discernment and change coming and for some reason it's hard trying to instill that change.

Re: Soul and Egg

Abriel,
Do post any future dreams. Dreams are an excellent way to help gauge your progress in personal and spiritual growth. Jung discovered a spiritual aspect as an inherent quality of the psyche. The creative is an aspect of the spiritual since through our creative self we are sharing the experiences that help elevate the person to a higher aspect of being {spiritual/creative}. Of course the psychological must be a part of any inward search but it is often by going inward psychologically one discovers the spiritual/creative {what is often considered the metaphysical}. Art is an excellent form of expression of the true self and an outlet as well. As Joseph Campbell tells us, follow your bliss and doors will open where there were barriers. The creative is most often the bliss people seek.
