This is a recurring dream. I am 56, way past childbearing years and I have 3 children. The dream is very simple. I am pregnant and going through all the normal stages and feeling baby move, getting bigger. My due date comes and goes and I don't give birth. I go to doctor to find out why only to be told that I was never pregnant after all. It is devastating news to me. The strange part is that the pregnancy was a later in life decision and after so much time went by without delivering that it has become too late to try again.

Re: pregnancy

Likely what is provided in the dream dictionaries {these dictionaries are primarily Jungian based} will explain the pregnancy in your dream.

Dreaming that you are pregnant, symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. This may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project or goal.

What experience in your life where there were expectations that did not work out as you wished? It could be a recent experience or/and well as an overall of expectations in life {the stages in life where things have not worked out as you had hoped/desired}. Dreams always have two meanings/applications and your dream could be addressing both issues. Never being pregnant to be begin with could indicate you never achieve your expectations. The 'later in life decision' language may point to something in later life that was expected but never happened {dreams often work in this manner}. Look at your recent life as well as the overall life experiences and determine where this 'pregnancy' fits.
