Re: snake dream

anon,
Because the snake can represent the phallus and the dream includes an 'erect' fence post, look to sexual associations in the dream {note: the 'boa' like snake may be addressing the 'constriction' aspects related to its name}. Not being aggressive could suggest problems in this aspect. 'Looking at you' could suggest it is pointing to a personal aspect or condition, either physical or psychological {most likely psychological unless there are physical issues to do with an erection}.

Another possibility is the snake could represent hidden fears to do with impending or needed changes in your life. That would point to a transformation {change or alteration} in your life which, with hidden fears, could be addressing aspects to do with your impending surgery. But it could also be addressing psychological aspects.

In the second dream there are also erect images and possible sexual associations. Freud saw anything hollow {like a box} as a sexual representation of the womb or the vagina {note: this Forum uses basic Jungian concepts that would incorporate the positive theories presented by Freud}. Planting something may point to placing something so it will grow. Psychologically that may have to do with stimulation.

Digging would be represent digging for truths or true aspects within yourself that needs your attention. The box standing erect may point to the need for something to 'stand erect'. Removing the dirt may suggest there are negative aspects that need to be removed so to reveal what is preventing the snake from standing straight up }being erect}.

Summary
I don't see anything in the dream that relates to your impending physical surgery. Dreams don't normally predict, they compensate what you already know {albeit unconsciously if not consciously}. I sense the dream is addressing something psychological {as all dreams do in they are attempting to address emotional issues that are in conflict and need resolution}. There are strong sexual associations. Are there any issues to do with sex, possible issues to do with erectile dysfunctions, if not actual problems then fears to do with it? The part about the dirt falling away may suggest something prohibited needs to be removed to reveal an 'erect' phallus {a psychological fear}. Unless your surgery has to do with something related to the phallus then the dream would likely be addressing other issues {psychological and not physical}.

If there are personal issues that I have touched on you do not wish to provide in this open forum you are welcome to e-mail those to me . I do ask for a response since all dreams are important in helping us better understand dreams {my e-mail address is located below my name next to the mailbox}.

Re: snake dream

YOu could be entirely right on the sex thing. My surgery has to do with gynecomastia. I have a painful area so I had it checked out for cancer. They found none but scheduled the surgery anyway. They tell me medicare will PROBABLY pay for it as there is a symptom-the pain. If I do the surgery but then they don't pay I could lose my house and marriage. Screw the marriage but I want to be comfortable for my remaining years. Medicare does not pre certify anything. My wife is really upset wants a separate checking acct. as she doesn't want to have the hospital garnishee her check. I said then you will have to pay half of the expenses on running the house to which she said I will pay what I feel like paying. So there is the beginning of divorce and I don't have the money to buy another house or barely even rent anything.

Re: snake dream

anon,
One of the snakes could have to do with your condition. The other could be your wife since a snake can represent someone you do not trust {a snake of a person}. If there are problems in the marriage that could also affect sexual desire and performance. The dream is reflecting your emotional state of mind at the time you had the dream.

Good luck with the surgery. Stay positive since attitude is so important in recovery and good health.
