Re: Getting married

pari,
Getting married to your bf is the bringing together of the 'opposites/conflicting' emotions in order to help you resolve the inner conflicts you are having in 'becoming your true self'.
This pretty much answers whether the dream title is actuually describing the primary message of the dream {in dream structure the opening of a dream, what Jung called the exposition, will provide an idea what the dream is focusing on - see Dream Structure}.
The 'suddeness' in 2 days could possibly point to some expected experience, or more likely the number 2 would be a symbol for a 'union', as well as the 'conflict' you have in real life on getting married at this time {remember all dreams, all dream images have at least two applications/meanings}. The 'confusion and going with the flow' is a real life experience in how you are living life. This is opposite how you truly wish to live your life which is what needs to be married {living in the real world vs living the life you wish to live}. You simply wish to be your true self {dress is a symbol for your ego persona and would point to bringing together the ego life in accord with your inner true self}. The friend would be the actual person {aspects you identify with-being the photographer} as well as another part of yourself, possibly pointing to positive aspects but also rejected aspects. This 'inner friend' is an unconscious energy/photograph depicting a reflection of who you are vs who you wish to be. Bringing those together is the primary message of the dream as well as what you 'truly' wish for in your life. The rest of the first paragraph is pretty much describing your waking ego life as it is vs your true self. Your true self {your 'bare' ego self} doesn't have makeup and reflects not having to wear makeup to cover who you really are and want to be. The more you look inward to your true self {which is the path you are trying to follow} the more beautiful you are, the plain self without ego bias nor social/family obligations to hinder you. Your life will be really good after the mental conflicts {hair} are resolved.

Regretting not buying the dress {ego persona} for yourself may point to the conflicts of being your true self {following the opening statement}. Something recent may have caused you to have to go against being your true self, conflicting emotions perhaps {the conversation with your parents about taking 6 months off from studying medicine may be involved}. You don't wish to have to do something against your will and since you have decided to take 6 months off and have informed your parents, its too late to change your mind????

Then there seems to be 'further' action {emotional/actual experiences} involved in recent days {prior to the dream}. Your bf would likely point to some aspect of that relationship {only you could know} but at the same time represent your own masculine self. The friends could point to positive aspects and because it has always been your 'dream' for these 'positive' aspects {friends} to marry {come together}, your decision to take 6 months off could be pointing to your looking forward to the future in being your true self so you can be truly happy. It is a difficult task and you are trying to stay positive despite the conscious obstacles. The part about 'why me, why should it be my wedding, really don't want to get married' would be a conscious experience as well as a conflict in itself since you are afraid of long term relationships {an attitude that you need to address sometime in the future since it too probably has roots in childhood and needs resolution}.

All in all I see the dream as positive as well as reflecting your real conscious and unconscious life. If you look at the hero/heroine journey there are always barriers, dragons {in myth} to be slain to achieve your goal {rescue the damsel in distress}. In Buddhism there is the concept that no matter how good life is there will be sorrow. A part of life as it is today {In Iran as well as everywhere else} is the difficulty in being who you really wish to be. If it is not government oppressing you it is corporations {as it is in the US} and because of their ability to control so many aspects of daily life {in the US we are addicted to material things}. But the hero/heroine does not let society dictate how to live life, you follow your soul. In Iran you have a different set of circumstances with strict Islamic rules {how much of that applies in reality I can only read what is printed}. But whether it be the state {as in Star Wars where George Lucas used Joseph Campbell's Monomyth as the format for his movies}, unbridled capitalism {as in the US} or society itself, the hero/heroine finds ways to progress in their desire to be their true self. To not be your true self {as most people live their lives} is live life without meaning, void of being truly whole. It is much better to have tried than to wish you had {living an inauthentic life as most do}.

Re: Getting married

Thank you very much for your interpretation:)
well I did guess that the marriage is something about reunion of two opposites.and I think it is applicable to my life right now.
there are just some points that I want to explain:
I think the part about watching my self without make-up in the mirror and realizing that I'm beautiful really explains my life, and even in reality sometimes these days I tend to look in the mirror and think I look more beautiful after taking all these actions to live my true self!I don't know..It's a strange feeling!
I think the conflicts and the acts that are not aligned with my true self relate to this condition that after telling my father about medical school I'm planning to move out and as I have some concerns about him reacting bad I'm trying to act somehow conservatively in the house and that's really bugging me cause that's not "me".
and I think the fear of getting married is just a reflection of very same fear in reality in my life which I should investigate more as you said.
you are one of my main motivations not to give up these days and keep following my instincts and I've just started to read the hero with thousand faces and as I go through every stage I can relate to many things that has happened to me in these few months and on "my" journey to this point .
Thanks alot for guiding me in this way.

Re: Getting married

Pari,
You are indeed brave to follow your own path. Especially at such a young age. There will always be sorrows in life but by being your true self you will avoid many negative aspects your friends will have to suffer through. When your job in life is what you love doing most then it is not a job. When you follow your soul and not what society dictates then you will fulfill your soul and society will follow you. When you follow the hero path doors will open where there were none. This was Joseph Campbell's message and from experience {21 years since I first began my inner journey} I know it works. Live spiritually {beyond religion and in accord with nature} and think psychologically {objectively and not emotionally}. The laws of Karma trump all other laws since what happens to a person is most often a result of their own actions. You take control of your life and find meaning in doing so. Simple equations that have endured through the ages.

Re: Getting married

Pari,
Because I do have significant information about your life I an able to read this dream with confidence {something that is available when an analysis does have enough information about a person}. What I see is the outlines of your desired journey and the emotional and physical obstacles that confront you. And how you are managing all you must overcome to get where you wish to be. In long dreams like this there can be a lot of repetitive actions so seeing the same dialog and descriptions isn't uncommon. There are undoubtedly other meaning/applications that would fit but most would be personal experiences only you would know {the sex, dancing in dresses, etc.}. Here is what I get from your dream. I have broken the dream into parts and then given what I believe it means. The parts of the dream are first and then my analysis in a different color.

Dream
It was night when my dream started .I entered some open space that I don’t know where it was but I remember a tree and grasses. I sat on the ground enjoying my time and the weather! then I lied down(to my right) and was really enjoying everything! it started raining afterwards and as I love rain I was thrilled and so peaceful, but as I remember, I couldn’t feel the rain on my skin or get wet although I was watching the rain drops in the air and after a while there was this fear..(in reality I have this fear of darkness? or I don’t know ..I can’t just sit somewhere specially in the dark not knowing what’s around me! I even can’t sit on my room’s floor when the lights are off and when I’m not leaning my back somewhere!I don’t know “what” exactly it is that I’m scared of)the fear started to grow and, as always, I was trying to avoid it.. then I stopped trying and stood up!

This part is reflecting where you are in life as it is now, the aspects related to being your true self but with the fears of how society and pressures from family impose their requirements on you. The tree and grasses are the developing personal growth, the rain representing the cleansing you get from following your true path. Focusing on you inner world you lie down which points to having to submit to 'social duty' {the right hand path is what society dictates}.
Not being able to feel the rain on your skin would represent not feeling the whole effect of your true self in your physical life. The fears of not reaching your goals persist {a normal aspect of the hero path}. The fear of darkness may represent the fear of the unknown, those unknown aspects that could block your path. You are trying to avid having to submit to the pressures of what is required from society/family pressures. You have decide to stop trying to avoid the pressures and simply 'stand up' and be your true self.

Dream
there was a house close to me and at that point I remembered that I’ve come there to visit my cousin who had immigrated to new Zealand 3years ago!(my cousin is 35 and she has moved to New Zealand with her husband, everybody think of them as a happily married couple who have good, well-paid jobs and they’re successful but I think their life is really boring and not what I want at all)and I knew it was their home so I entered the house. It was dark inside the house and suddenly I noticed someone moving around the house and I screamed loudly and then I realized it was my cousin, she didn’t pay much attention to me and just said:” Hey, we’ve just come back home and please be quiet as Ahmad(her husband) is sleeping!” I just expected us to hug and talk more as I had come that far but we just didn’t and got to sleep(after I screamed I just felt like it was an overreaction or somehow a faked scream, come on! I could’ve guessed that it was my cousin in the house!)

This part is how you do not want to live your life. Success in the 'corporate' world isn't your path, doesn't fulfill your soul. You know this 'house' and it is not your house. You can not embrace that type of life. There is no discussion needed, you know what you want in life.

Dream
The next morning I woke up and looked outside and realized that their house was actually 4-5 tall and very thin buildings and there were huge signs on each one of them like “work”,” relaxation” and etc. I was wondering if these buildings were all parts of their house or there were some business=related buildings in the town?!but I think there were different parts of the house.

The house is you and the 4-5 {feet or stories?} may have specific meaning but when you add them together you get 9 which is the number for wholeness/your true self, your goal in life {numbers are important but how they fit and what they represent are also}. There are many aspects to your house/life, work, relaxation, etc. These are the different parts of you and what you must cotend with in your journey.

Dream
In the morning I realized that we’ve come there with my family and all in all I wasn’t so happy about being there and coming that far specially with my family! we went on the balcony with Parisa (in reality she had told me a lot about their house and it’s balcony and the view and everything) and she showed me the view! their house was on top of a hill and I could see a huge green hill across their house and in the middle of these two hills there was a park and people were jogging and having fun there! I saw two of my old schoolmates taking photos(later in the dream I saw two more of them and I thought wow new Zealand has become so popular among Iranians!).and I remember Parisa telling me they live in a village but when I saw the view I assumed it was a not- so- small city! before going on the balcony Parisa (my cousin) was telling me about one of her close friends whose house is just around the corner and really close to theirs! on the balcony she pointed to somewhere saying it was her house, I looked that way and it was just an alcove in the park ,so I asked this one?!and she pointed somewhere else and then it was just an alcove again and then she said no you can’t see it from here you should go down these stairs, which you can’t go down with a car, and then it’s at the end of somewhere and I was surprised cause she had told me it’s really close!!

This part is pretty much addressing the issues you find wrong with life lived not being your true self. Your world is much bigger than that and you want to find your 'niche' {alcove} in life where you can be your true self a yet live within the world. You can't see your desired life from a position Paris lives. Your 'house is around the corner, not in the position she is in. Your family wishes fir you to live in Parisa's world but that would not make you happy. Your path requires a deeper exploration of the possibilities including an inner exploration {down the stairs}. That place is really close because you have chosen to take a break from your studies and from the norm of society/family.

Dream
Then I went for a walk in the city and there I ran into my other cousin Baran! She was wearing a classy short black dress and I felt really happy for her cause my uncle is super strict with her and would never let her go abroad or dress like this!and there she was now!(Baran is 17,she’s a beautiful, confident girl and she is so into art, that’s how I describe her).what I noticed when I saw her was her armpit hair which was surprising for me as she really cares about her appearance all the time!and then I thought maybe it’s not a big deal here in New Zealand.I went with her.I noticed that she was heading to a play rehearsal or something and again I felt happy that she was already doing very well there! There were a guy and some girls wearing beautiful dresses posing before a camera holding objects that the guy gave them.I can’t remember the objects but I had a feeling that the whole thing was kinda related to sex maybe.

Baran is the rebellious part of you as well as your true spirit {wearing clothes that her uncle rejects, she being into art}. Note: creativity and spiritually are what bring about the true meaning in life. The part about her armpit may represent 'the traits of your personality that you should be living/exposing in order or be able to establish good relationships within yourself as well as in the world' {remember she is a part of you}. You are going in that direction {you went with her}. The rehearsal, doing well are also pointing to your journey and what you are doing at this moment to fulfill your soul {rehearsing, doing well thus far}. The guy would be your masculine aspects and the beautiful dresses your outer self as your true self. It requires strength and discipline {masculine traits} to achieve what you are trying to do with your life. The 'related to sex' would represent 'psychological completion and the integration of contrasting aspects' within you.
Note: There are likely personal aspects beyond the hero journey you are on involved with these images/actions also. Men and sex, swirling in beautiful dresses, these are normal aspects you experience of someone your age no matter your path.

Dream
We went back home together. I saw some other relatives on the way and was wondering we shouldn’t have come here all together cause it’s gonna be difficult for Parisa to host all of us.

You and Baran share many of the same qualities {you identify with those aspects in her life that fit your true self}. But it is difficult being who you wish to be because the other aspects of your life involving society and family {Parisa} must be dealt with.

Dream
When we got home we faced Baran’s mom waiting for her who started shouting about how Baran has dressed and what the hell she has been doing(her mom isn’t so strict in reality but I can imagine that these things might matter to her).the strange thing was that her mom wasn’t wearing anything except for a manto (manto is the long shirts that women wear in Iran) and her manto wasn’t buttoned up.she was so panicked and was trying to button it up but she couldn’t and she kept getting the buttons in wrong holes(I really wanted to interrupt her and defy Baran but somehow I couldn’t).and as she is somehow religious I was shocked to see her half naked before everyone. after trying for several times and doing the buttoning all over she decided to cut the lower part of her manto as a solution(as she has had it in wrong holes again) and again I wanted to stop her but I don’t remember if I did it or not..this part was finished here!

Baran's mom may be your mother. Not so strict as your father, giving in to culture expectations {wearing a manto} but not in a way that would be strictly required {not buttoned up}. She would be not how you wish to live your life also, having to 'button up' about your true feelings/self which would push you in the wrong direction {wrong holes}. You still have certain social/family requirements you must attend to but because you are 'rebelling' and are willing to expose your true self to the world {Baran's mom being religious but half naked/exposing herself}. You would have to abandoned the inner part to fulfill your parents/society's expectations and you are doing what you must do to 'stop' fitting that mold. It would be the wrong path for you.

Dream
In the next scene It was another night and we were heading to a party out of town with my family and on my dad’s car.At first I thought we were going to a garden or something but it was actually a building and I can’t remember what was inside.

This part seems to be addressing the expectations of your father {dad's car}. The personal growth you wish for {garden} is a building in his world {fitting in with society}. There is nothing 'inside' that building you want or need.

Dream
then I realized that my boyfriend was there too. he was somehow center of attention and was maybe making something with the guidance of an old strict man who I didn’r really felt good about(in reality my bf is always working on new ideas and in the dream I thought he was being creative and maybe producing something new). They were trying to involve me by asking questions but I really wasn’t interested in what they were doing!and I was looking for an excuse to leave cause I was thinking about renting a hourse and riding back home on my own(there were horses in the town and the other day I had rode one for a short time).

This part seems to be addressing the expectations of your father {dad's car}. The personal growth you wish for {garden} is a building in his world {fitting in with society}. There is nothing 'inside' that building you want or need.Your bf is both a part of what is expected by society but also reflects qualities you admire {creative, producing something new in your life}. Society is trying to 'involve' you in being a part of what is required to be the norm but again that isn't something you are interested in doing. There are tomes when you must exhibit strong physical energy {horse} to get to your true place in life {home on my own}. That is what is required and you are availing yourself to that path {horses in the town}.

Dream
finally I told them I was leaving and packed my things but I went for a wrong door and I ended up in the bathroom and I was even trying to turn on the shower that suddenly I realized I wanted to go out not have a bath!! and I was thinking it’s good that I didn’t get myself wet cause then I had to wait for my hair to dry and it would be too late to go back on a horse(in my family they have this silly thing about not going out with wet hair cause you’ll catch cold!!)

You have informed your parents of your intentions/desires but you have yet to finalize your intentions {wrong door, a need for complete cleansing of your dependency on them}. You have decided to go on your own without their blessing {go out not have a bath}. This is the good path and emotionally correct {not getting wet}. there would be less mental strain {hair to dry} and there won't be the fear of change and an ambivalence about seizing an opportunity to go on your own and proceed to follow your desired path. The part about your family thinking going out with wet hair and catching cold could represent 'experiencing a breakthrough in your life they are opposed to' {added dialog like this adds meaning to the dream}.

Dream
and I finally got out of there and was looking around to see if there were any horses but I couldn’t see one.(the weather was getting dark and in the whole time I was worried that if I don’t get home before night I would get stuck in the road alone on a horse!)I looked around and saw a crowd on the alley. There was also a huge screen hanging in the alley and as I paid more attention It was showing a movie in Persian language!and I was surprised but then I realized that there were some Iranian wedding and it was the reason there were a lota people on the street.I realized that I probably won’t find a hourse in that strict so just got a taxi(a shared taxi with three other people, shared taxis are so common in Iran)on my way back home my sister called and told me they were already home and where I am and I said oh maybe this taxi has chosen a different way and that’s why I’m late(actually I had intended to went back on a horse and it would be reasonable if I got home after them but I just didn’t say anything)

This part is where you are at the moment {at the time you had the dream}. This is important because it reflects your true situation/condition. there is always difficulty if finding the strength needed to proceed in your journey {could not see ant horses}. The darkness is your unconscious self and the fears of not getting to where you wish to be in life. Being stuck in social world of requirements. The crowd is your crowded emotions and the dead end the social world has to offer {alley}. There is always a reason for these fears because what you wish for is foreign {Persian} to what your parents and society expects of you. You are wanting to wed your cultural self with your true self {Iranian wedding} and this is what causes all of the differenting emotions {people in the street}. Letting the emotional self govern your actions won't work {no horse in that street} so you share a taxi {riding in a cab with others means scandal and gossip} and that is not your chosen path. But it is something you are still dealing with {moving out, having to live up to expectations} and this causes a delay in where you wish to be {why you are late}. Being late can symbolize feeling unsupported as well as being overwhelmed/conflicted with decisions about your future. Your intentions are to be strong in staying your path but being reasonable in how you do it.
This is where you are at the moment, staying your path all the while having to still submit to certain requirements.

Your Comment About Dream
In reality, the only thing that has occupied my mind these days is telling my parents I wanna move out so this dream might also relate to that!

That is what the dream seems to be saying

Re: Getting married

Hey jerry
Thanks again for your interpretation:)
I feel like the last two paragraphs really relate to my life right now as I'm considering different means to do what I want to do!sometimes I think I should take everything slowly and tell my father gradually but then I think it might take too much time and I would waste my life.So I think all these symbols of conflicts and emotional distresses are related to these issues in my mind.but I think I've finally decided to stop looking for their blessing and avoid "getting wet".

Re: Getting married

Pari,
As Joseph Campbell taught about life's journey, "follow your bliss". Do that thing in life that fulfills the soul and not what society expects/dictates.

"Follow your bliss.
If you do follow your bliss,
you put yourself on a kind of track
that has been there all the while waiting for you,
and the life you ought to be living
is the one you are living.
When you can see that,
you begin to meet people
who are in the field of your bliss,
and they open the doors to you.
I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid,
and doors will open
where you didn't know they were going to be.
If you follow your bliss,
doors will open for you that wouldn't have opened for anyone else."

This is the hero/heroine journey of myth. But it applies to life, especially when a person realizes they are on a journey and that journey is as much 'inward' as it is conscious. It works, I know from experiences. As does George Lucas, Linda Ronstadt, Jerry Garcia, Jacqueline Onassis to name a few who followed their soul. It works because it is a part of the natural laws of the universe.
