Two Strangers Aware

I had a dream I was walking into an elevator. It was in the first person, I was looking through my own eyes, which never happens in my dreams. I'm always an observer, even if I dream of myself I'm watching myself. As I walk in I see two strangers. A woman and a man, they're only a couple years older than me, 17 or 18. They're dressed for the summer, t-shirt and shorts, and as I look down I'm in my pajamas. I'm confused, and as I look at them they look confused as well. The elevator closes and appears clear. We go down a floor, we see the metal walls of the elevator chute. But as we go down a floor it turns into the ocean. We all rush forward, baffled at the new development. The elevator sinks faster and the ocean grows darker. I know we'll die. The pressure from the very bottom of the ocean floor will crush us like a tin can. Or the air will run out. But as we hit the bottom nothing happens. The woman is crying, and the man is holding her. I can see them as there is a small light in the corner of the box. The man sees it too, and stands up going towards it. He starts to pick and prod it, and his girlfriend screams out.
"Stop! You're gonna kill us!" I quickly kneel next to her, and speak up.
"You're gonna let the water in. Dude, knock it off." He tells us this isn't real, somethings wrong. He peels at it, and, like wallpaper, it peels away, revealing more light. He pushes against it, and water rushes in. I pull the girl up, and try to wade against the water. But as soon as it rushes in, it rushes back out, pulling us all with it. As we literally tumble out, we fall out into a white hallway. I lay there, aware of the heaviness of my wet clothes, the chill as air conditioning cools the water. I see the man help his girlfriend up, they look frightened and confused. The woman helps me up, and I feel the wetness in my hand. I can feel her hand. And as a shiver racks through my body, we look at each other. I can see the color of their eyes, I'm fiercely aware of the sound of their breath, and their presences. We have a mutual expression of realization, and I see the mans hand tighten around the woman's. Their just as scared, and confused as I am. As we look down the hallway I wake up.

This dream was so vivid. I can still remember it. I can still see their faces, and I don't remember meeting them. I read something, somewhere, that your brain cannot make up a new face. Even if you saw someone on the street for two seconds you could dream of them. But the detail I saw those two in. The feeling of wet cloth, heavy hair, and the cold. I can feel it, and their faces held such emotion. I'm scared, and if someone could tell me anything. I would be so thankful, if you've dreamed of something similar. Those people looked aware of the weirdness of that dream. They didn't know me or what was going on. I can't convey the feeling I have. I was confused when I woke up in my bed, unaware of how I got home. Please help.

Re: Two Strangers Aware

Beth,
My sense of your dream is there are deep emotional issues/conflict that need to be explored and understood. These issues seem to come from early life experiences/influences and are at the core of your personality and mental attitudes. The people in the dream are symbolic on one level {aspects of your own psyche} but may point to actual males/females in your life. These issues go very deep which may indicate deep emotional wounds in earlier life. The 'heaviness' of the issues cause conscious/waking turmoil and although the persons responsible can not be seen in the dream unconsciously you know who they are. Not seeing the faces may indicate a repression of the experiences, a common experience the mind uses so the ego self will not have to endure emotional pain {a defense mechanism}.

As for the dying, this is symbolic of how the experiences {negative if not traumatic} have or could still change you, your personality and attitudes. Because they are early life experiences more likely those experiences have helped shape your personality. Most likely you experience anxieties and stress in your waking life due to these experiences. At age 15 you may still be in the same environment that caused these emotional issues. Their presence can still be felt.

As for what the experiences are I would need to know much more about your personal life. I can only see the outlines of emotional issues. I would not worry about dying or death in your dreams since such images are symbolic {the language of dreams is symbolic and metaphorical}. Look at the emotional issues you have and why you have them and seek counseling for them. As long as they remain unresolved your dreams will feature the emotional crisis and may have weird experiences as metaphorical representations as did this dream. Do not take the actions literal.
