going home

I have had dreams recently of needing to go home, but of looking for something, of needing to find it, before I went home. I was in an old house looking for a book that I had to have (Jung's Red Book). I escaped from a construction site and needed to get back to a childhood farm. I met my sister as she was when she was a child 40 years ago. Other women from my childhood were also there. Any thoughts on going home and the old days? Thanks for your help!

Re: going home

Wo,
You dream is addressing childhood issues {as was your Meaning of couples in dreams. If you actually have Jung's Red Book then that would suggest you have in Jungian psyche and likely seeking to find resolution to emotional issues. That would be the need in going home, find resolution to what was missing from your early childhood {that still remain and have an influence on your adult life}. You need to find what is missing {needing to find it} before you can understand how to resolve the issues {before I went home.

The other part of the dream is pointing to old experiences from childhood, very likely emotional experiences at age 11. Those experiences {as well as others in childhood and your whole childhood} are unresolved psychological experiences {Jung's Red Book}. Jung is all about self knowledge, learning what the emotional issues are and finding a resolution. You are trying to escape those experiences and having had to rebuild your psychological life. The childhood farm is about personal growth {and possibly a real farm if you ever lived on one}. You sister could have been a part of those experiences {40 years ago}. There could have been various women in those years but the women would also represent emotional aspects {the feminine aspects which in dreams usually points to strong emotional energies}.

Look back to when you were 11 and see what experiences could have stimulated the dream. There would have been experiences that created strong emotional energies. Your sister may have been present or involved.

Here is my interpretation of the images/actions

Dream Title
Circle of Chairs
-going in circles, needing to sit down and take time out to contemplate a situation before proceeding

-needing to go home-return to true-original self/return to past experiences
-looking for something- seeking for what is missing
-needing to find it-
-before I went home-find what is missing before you

-in an old house-old experiences/emotions
-looking for a book I had to have-looking for inner self knowledge
-escaped from construction site-escaping from having to rebuild your early life
-to get back to childhood farm-to get back what was lacking in childhood growth
-met my sister when she was 40 years ago-actual experiences related to actual sister 40 years ago {when you were 11 years old}
-other women from my childhood-actual women during childhood/emotional experiences related to those childhood years.

Note: I do request a response to my analysis. My services are free and a response is the least that can be given. A contribution of any amount to my Kitty Fund would be appreciated but not required.

Re: going home

Dear Jerry,

Thank you for your help. You're right about something being missing in my childhood. I think it was love and safety. I was raised by my mom and stepfather, who was a little abusive emotionally and some physically too. I do not want to return to it, so that is likely the meaning of the construction site. Around age 11 was maybe when my stepfather's son, who I did not get along with at all, moved away. At the time that probably gave me some relief. Maybe I want to return to that time of relief. Not sure what that means for me today though. I will work on this-thank you so much for your help!

Re: going home

wo,
Those early life experiences still influence/motivate your personal life. You need to examine those early years in-depth and find resolution, either on your own or with help. We all have an inner child that needs healing and understanding what needs to healed and why will help bring resolution to the injuries that remain within your unconscious. Revisit that child, feel his emotions, determine what was missing and understand why you still seek to replacement what was/is missing. Addictions, food, alcohol, drugs, divorce, depression even suicide are what happens because of never receiving proper love, affection, security as a child. Some say this is all nonsense but believe me it is as real as day and night. The wounds will never heal as long as they remain hidden away. Dreams are nature's tool in revealing what is hidden, what was/is missing. Your dreams wants you to be whole but it is you who must take action to make that happen.
