The past

I have not dreamed in a while and when I do I do not remember them so well but I can remember some of this dream.

In this dream, I initially find myself walking down the hallways in my old high school. I cross paths with someone I currently work with (Forget the name) and we briefly jest with each other, I also hear music in the background and it sounds like something you would hear in a sad movie or at least a moving movie. After this I find myself driving my current vehicle which is a white truck but it is without a top. With me is the father of a childhood friend. This is a good man and deeply religious. For some reason that I cannot remember we are traveling back to my house because we need to get to my computer, we are also in possession of two laptops but I get the sense that they are not enough. We are driving through my old hometown and it is very vivid. As we come onto my street to my right what looks like I would describe as a tent revival. I turn onto a gravel/dirt parking lot and take an incredibly sharp turn which has me driving on two wheels for a moment. I turn to my passenger to make a comment but he is no longer there. I get out of my truck and he is suddenly with his wife who is also very religious and they are all on their knees bowing to the ground praying with two older ladies. They are praying the lord’s prayer silently when one of the ladies says out loud that she does not know the prayer. Without skipping a beat, they begin to pray out loud, this is all that I remember.

Re: The past

Samuel,
Here is my analysis of your dream. First is a breakdown/interpretation of the images/actions in the dream and then a summary and comments.

Images/Actions

-walking down hallways of old high school-revisiting past experiences from high school
-cross paths with someone you now work with-a person that had familiar/similar experiences
-hear music in background/something you would hear in a sad moving movie-emotions you feel
-find myself driving current vehicle-emotional energies that drive/motivate you
-with me is father of childhood friend-influence of father figure
-can not remember traveling back to my house-not able to consciously remember past experiences
-need to get computer-getting in touch with emotions
-in possession of two laptops/but not enough-unconsciously in possession of conflicting self knowledge but not consciously aware/remembered
-driving through hometown-going through unexpressed emotions
-come onto my street-aspects of your life path
-to my right-your conscious self
-looks like a tent revival-resurrection of insecurities
-turn into gravel/dirt parking lot-stored emotions
-driving on two wheels for a moment-temporary experience involving repetitious behavior causing conflict
-turn to my passenger/no longer there-unconscious contents that are not consciously remembered
-get out of truck-getting away from emotional load
-he is with wife-aspects that you are married to
-she is religious/on their knees-strong controlling emotional aspects
-bowing to the ground-giving in to life foundations
-praying with two older ladies-seeking guidance from past emotional experiences
-praying Lord's prayer silently-unconsciously giving to higher source/motivating energies
-lady does not know prayer-knowing energies
-they begin to pray out loud-consciously acting out unconscious motivating energies

Summary
Recently you may have had an experience that made you remember past experiences during high school years {crossing paths with someone you work with}. These past experiences had a negative impact {sad moving movie} that continue to have an influence {driving current vehicle/truck}. The experiences would involve the influence or experience from a father figure. It may involve experiences that you do not remember or do not want to remember {I get strong impressions of repression}. These past experiences are now a motivating factor in your developed attitudes. The recent experience has brought up a resurrection of inner insecurities and could cause temporary behavior that is 'repetitious' or earlier life experiences {those that continue to unconsciously influence your behavior/attitudes}. You may have a developed an attitude to looking for guidance in 'father figure' types. There could be a negative impact associated with this behavior. Bad habits could be associated with this experiences also.

Comments
Dreams are storage bins for past experiences that possess strong emotional energies. These energies often are influential in the development of personal attitudes and personality. In your dream the religious aspects of an actual person {a person who left a strong impression for one reason or another} would represent something you are religiously 'married to' on an unconscious level. Consciously they may have an influence on your current self. The dream is trying to communicate to you what these past experiences were {you may be repressing them or aspects related to them} so you can understand their influence {indulging, bad habits}. Early life experiences/influences are the primary foundations for later life attitudes and personality traits. If you go back to high school years and examine experiences that would/could possess strong emotional energies you may be able to better understand what issues there are that need your attention and resolution.

Re: The past

Samuel,
Please do take time to review my analysis and provide a response. Dreams are nature's tool to help resolve emotional issues. The title of your dream sets the stage for what the dream message is; the past. The past is always a part of the present and future. Because they are still in need of resolution {which is what the dream is wanting to help you do} what ever the issues will continue until resolved. Your current personal life/attitudes/personality are products of your early life experiences. Childhood/early teen years especially since it is in these years your personality and personal attitudes take shape.

Re: The past

After giving the analysis a few read throughs, here are some of the thoughts that crossed my mind.

“walking down hallways of old high school-revisiting past experiences from high school” Kind of reminds me of some memories I have had recently of the past where I have really misinterpreted situations when I was younger. Looking back, I know now that I have been and still am to an extent a person that is not the most socially intelligent when it comes to catching signals, hints and what not. What this had done though is put me in a mindset where I really want to travel back in time, relive the experience, and react the way that I now wish I did.

Need to get laptops assessment seems accurate.

looks like a tent revival-resurrection of insecurities…this is accurate in the sense that I had two steps forward one step back moment in the last month. Progress was made and then self-sabotage set in.

turn into gravel/dirt parking lot-stored emotions…this is true enough I know that I repress.

he is with wife-aspects that you are married to…. there are certain emotions/energies that I cannot seem to “turn off.”

praying with two older ladies-seeking guidance from past emotional experiences…. I feel like this relates to suddenly recalling events that took place 10-15 years ago, and having a different perspective on the situation.

lady does not know prayer-knowing energies… What do you mean exactly?

The repetitious notion would probably be my use of alcohol to “turn off” my brain temporarily.

The seeking guidance notion is also an accurate assessment.

I have some off time this weekend so I am going to look at it some more and add to my response.

Re: The past

Samuel,
I appreciate your detailed response. By connecting what I state in my analysis to your waking life you have begun a healing process. There are unconscious energies that motivate actions in life and knowing what those are is a major step in the healing process. Dreams are a direct link to the unconscious and when properly analyzed and interpreted the will help to understand what the emotional issues are {dreams are about the emotional energies}. Most often this is never done and life is unconsciously lived, the conscious self held hostage to early life experiences and influences.

To your question about the 'lady does not know prayer' and my interpretation of 'knowing energies'. Prayer is reaching out to a 'higher source' and the higher source would be the source within you. These are unconscious energies that motivate you emotionally {lady} you are not/or have been aware of the unconscious energies. Praying out loud is {on one level} consciously acting out the unconscious motivating energies> we all do this in some form or fashion, living life without knowing the reasons for who we are and why we are that person. Dreams reveal the true self with the intent of exposing what is out of balance in the waking life that prevents wholeness.

If you have other comments or questions post them and I will provide my insights.
