A friend's (weekly) recurring dream.

A friend has this dream at least once a week (along with the dream re. loaded gun, which he also has once a week, which I have posted further down the list.)

He is (back) in school and attending a class where he realises that everyone else has adequately perpared for the lesson except him. Then the teacher announces that everyone will have to present the work they have prepared, and he realises he is the only one without adequate preparation.

I'm interested in the question of whether, like the loaded gun dream I posted earlier, this dream represents a certain fracturing of the ego from other aspects of the psyche. As 'he' is the only one not prepared, is this a type of "weakness" of the ego in relation to the other unintegrated aspects of his psyche??

Since he has both this dream and the loaded gun dream every week...I assume they are most critical??

cheers

Re: A friend's (weekly) recurring dream.

anna,
What extent this dream is addressing deeper personal issues is hard to say. It could very well be doing just that. The symbolism does suggest there are aspects in his life that he is unprepared for. The test may indicate pressures. And it may be addressing one aspect since the other students {other aspects of his psyche?} are prepared and HE is not. Perhaps the HE is addressing some masculine aspect that stands alone from his other aspects.

Re: A friend's (weekly) recurring dream.

Thanks G.

I asked him of he was under pressure at work or sometmes felt unprepared for work...to which he replied "no". Didn't feel it my place to ask if he felt unprepared in any other "area" of his life...

But there does seem to be some relationship between "HIS" alienation from the others in the class...and the alienation "HE" felt from others in the loaded gun dream (I sent earlier).

Of some concern is that he has both this and the loaded gun dream at least once a week....

cheers
