Speedex

I recently purchased what I thought was a Speedex 1631
I am working to restore it to working condition,(not factory), I have discovered that it is actually two tractors in one ??? The front being a speedex and the rear drive train being ??????? I need help in identifying the rear end. It is quite massive for a garden tractor. It has a Sundstrand Model 90-1121 hydrostatic trans connected to the differential. The only # I can find on the rear end is a # cast into the front of the axle housing on each side. The # is 172 453. The axle housings are about 31/2 " square. I have built a sub frame going the full length of the tractor and have installed a 23 HP Kohler Model K-582 S engine. Any info. is appreciated. Thanks, Richard

After Rick's photos it appears someone put together two tractors. The front is for sure a Speedex , the rear ??? Will be quite a converstion piece when finished . Mike
