speedex 1622 starting

Hi --
Just bought a Speedex model 1622 and I\'m having trouble getting it started. At first, there was no spark, so I cleaned points, replaced plug and got it running. Ran well for about a week, then won\'t start again -- same symptoms. Drains the battery trying to turn over, and can\'t get battery to charge on a jump (battery is new). Any hints?

I just bought one of these from a guy in NW Vermont and he put a battery with more CCA than what it came with. Seems to need the extra boost to start it.
