How bizarre ... we too are going to build a bar in our basement! We had a pretty cool carpenter over to quote for us when we were there over Easter (I can recommend him if you like but where we are is about 2 hrs, 30 mins out of Toronto ...).
My 7 year old girl of course now wants to be our barmaid after I read that out to her from your 'about us' section!
I totally agree with your opinion of UK -v- Canada, they know how to live over there and don't get all downtrodden as folk do over here.
