When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,  to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.  They are there for the reason you need them to be.  Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.  Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.  Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.  What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.  The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

There are many different responses to crisis. Most survivors have intense feelings after a traumatic event but recover from the trauma; others have more difficulty recovering — especially those who have had previous traumatic experiences, who are faced with ongoing stress, or who lack support from friends and family — and will need additional help.

CONCORD, N.C. -- It’s the only motorcycle of its kind and it was built right in Concord.

The unique vehicle is registered as a motorcycle, but has three wheels. Yet it drives as fast as a regular motorcycle, even though the drive does not have any legs.

Bill Heintz lost his lower limbs 33 years ago when a mobile home came crashing down on top of him.

“I was setting it up on blocks, the wind blew it, and it came crashing down,” he said. “It hit me in the back of my head, drove me to the ground, broke my back and my spine.”

Bill Heintz talks about his special motorcycle.
Despite losing both his legs in the accident, he wasn’t slowed down.

“I’ve had it at 110 one time and law, I don’t do that all the time,” he said with a laugh.

Heintz has always been passionate about motorcycles, so he and his friends built a three-wheeler just for him with all the controls right at his fingertips.

“He’s mobile now,” his son, Billy, said. “He goes anywhere he wants. I come home and he’s never here.”

The three-wheeled creation is popular around town.
Bill and his friends said that building the bike was a lot of hard work. It took more than a year of planning and it took several months to build, but they said they hope it serves as an inspiration to others.

“I guess you just don’t let it get you down,” Billy said. “That is the way he has always been. You go in his house and he built everything to suit him.”

Bill and his bike are popular around town. Some residents even think he should start a business building these bikes for others. For now, Bill said he’s just taking some time to enjoy the ride.

“Sometimes you get up in the morning and think ‘I’m going to put my shoes on and take off,’ and they’re not there – so it is hard; it is a fight every day,” he said. “I’m just one of these dummies who just ain’t going to lie down and quit.”
