When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,  to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.  They are there for the reason you need them to be.  Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.  Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.  Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.  What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.  The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

There are many different responses to crisis. Most survivors have intense feelings after a traumatic event but recover from the trauma; others have more difficulty recovering — especially those who have had previous traumatic experiences, who are faced with ongoing stress, or who lack support from friends and family — and will need additional help.

Missing motorcyclist trapped under bike - hasn't gone through the training

Cell phone aids in rescue of accident victim

Missing motorcyclist trapped under bike near Forest Grove tells dispatcher when sirens are getting closer
By Christian Gaston

The Forest Grove News-Times, Mar 13, 2007

A man trapped beneath his wrecked motorcycle sent local police and fire officials on a chase around Fern Hill Road, south of Forest Grove, Monday after he mistakenly gave a 9-1-1 dispatcher his home address as the location of his accident.

Juan Mendez, 29, of Cornelius, was transported by helicopter to Oregon Health Sciences University with life-threatening injuries after a search conducted by a host of emergency responders finally located him in some brush, pinned beneath his Honda CBR 600 south of Forest Grove.

Sgt. Dave Thompson, Washington County Sheriff's spokesman, said that when Mendez first called 9-1-1, he gave his home address in Cornelius as his location.

After Cornelius police and firefighters broke down his door and found the house empty, the 9-1-1 dispatcher determined the approximate location of Mendez’s cell phone using tower triangulation.

That information gave officers and firefighters a broad swath of land around Fern Hill Road to search.

When emergency vehicles got close, Mendez told the 9-1-1 operator that he could hear sirens. At that point, the Washington County sheriff's deputy responding to the call drove around the area with his siren while Mendez talked to the operator.

“We had the deputy travel some of the roads to see if the siren was getting louder or quieter," said David Nemeyer, Forest Grove Fire and Rescue spokesman.

Eventually Forest Grove firefighters spotted Mendez and his motorcycle near the intersection of Southwest Fern Hill Road near Blooming Fern Hill Road.

Thompson said that Mendez had owned the $9,000 motorcycle for only a few weeks and that the bike’s odometer read just 9.7 miles. He also noted that Mendez has not passed the motor vehicle test allowing him to legally drive a motorcycle.

“He was going too fast," Thompson said, "and he hasn't gone through the training necessary to operate it."

Re: Cell phone aids in rescue of accident victim

Most important issue is at hand here! This rider should not have been riding without proper training.

Anyone considering riding, should obtain their training and license before their purchase.
