When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,  to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.  They are there for the reason you need them to be.  Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.  Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.  Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.  What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.  The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

There are many different responses to crisis. Most survivors have intense feelings after a traumatic event but recover from the trauma; others have more difficulty recovering — especially those who have had previous traumatic experiences, who are faced with ongoing stress, or who lack support from friends and family — and will need additional help.

my second crash

I just was released from the hospital after my second crash. While I still enjoy two wheels my mode of preference are vintage scooters.

My first crash was on a 1966 Vespa 125. A bloodbank van (believe it or not) turned left and broadsided me breaking all my ribs and forcing me to lose my spleen.

On impact I did a face plant in the van (thank goodness I had a full face on because any other helmet would have been a death sentence I am sure) and was thrown to the ground. My left arm was severed by the impact and bent backwards with the bone coming completely out. Thankfully a good orthopaedic surgeon did a skin graft and placed lots of metal in my arm salvaging it despite the paramedics telling me I would lose it.

I also wound up with a colostomy bag from the first accident About a year after getting the bag they decided to remove it. Unfortunately that didnt go well and I wound up in the hospital for ten months (the first stay was three months).

I immediately began riding again as soon as I was able to walk. I was discharged from the hospital the last time in September of 05.

Things were great for about a year and a half. On May 18th of this year I crashed once again. This time due to engine failure and riding on very dark roads with no visibility. I went from about 70 to 50 when the engine seized and managed to slow it down to about 15 when I hit something in the roadway and it sent me somersaulting off the side.

I landed on my left forearm breaking the radius and then did a somersault (again doing a headplant on the pavement....again wearing a full face thankfully) and fractured my right shoulder as I completed the somersault.

A 15 mile an hour accident and I broke both arms.

I swore I was through riding but then I found this forum.
