I don't know their reason, but what is your opinion of LoneStars no pet rule. It won't effect me, but I think some will take it more personally... Do you think it will effect car count?? or no big deal.. just being curious..
I promise you that Lee and I won't go! If my babies can't go, we don't go. They stay in the RV and we walk them on a leash. They don't run loose or get into anything. There are alot of people who have pets and probally feel the same way. Sorry, but no Lone Star racing for us!!
We were getting ready to start bringing my brothers dog with us as well. Kind of a stupid rule and cant even imagine why the would do this. When is the last time any one of you saw that a pet caused a problem at the track?? Ive been racing for quite a whileand have seen MANY MANY animals dogs mostly and a pot bellied pig at the track and all having a wonderful time. ????? John ????
I'm not going to say that the strict pet rule is the reason I will not run at Lonestar as I was already leaning towards SAR but it re-enforces my thinking. I do not think the bracket racing program at LSMP will be much better than it was under Mike and it certainly will not hold a candle to what Glen and Dee had. We have supported Lonestar since the first day they were open and maybe we were spoiled but we were loyal. The current attitude reminds me of a local dirt track where the owner would say "it's my track, my rules and if you don't like it, don't come". That track is still there but guess what? Nobody goes there and he's out of business. I seiously wish John Hennesey the best and I hope his endeavor turns out to be a huge success.
I can't say I have ever seen in 35 years of racing any pet related accidents, I have seen a couple of incidents involving stray dogs, one at Baytown and one at Edinburg and they did cause a lot of damage on impact but most tracks are in rural areas, so theres always a slight chance of that happening. Maybe I'm blind or just uninformed on this new rule, but it seems that it's a sure bet to lose racers and fans in all classes not just the bracket racers.. Like I stated before, it does'nt effect me at all, i'll leave my cat at home, but I personally know of several racers who always bring their pets to the track, hopefully they can deal with it..
Yeah, I like to bring my dog with me, and especially when we are gone for long periods of time, it is necessary. He is a yellow lab and never causes any trouble except he never stops wanting to play LOL
I won't say I would or would not race somewhere because of this rule, but if it turns out that I can't make all the races because I can't bring my dog when I need to, I probably would not sign up for and commit to the season.
Actually at HMP I saw a dragster hit a dog and rip the front wheel off.I have four dogs so I know what yall are saying, but I also see his liability issues as I own a small business also.
We did have a bad incedent at HRP a few years ago when a dog got on the track. It tore a car up.Maybe the driver could of prevented from hitting it,I don't know . I know we were in the other lane and Danny Lifted, the other guy didn't.But I don't see where peoples pet would cause a problem. A stray one yes.I hope they don't keep people away with this rule.
Murphy its gonna cost ya a beer to keep this one quiet!! I Myself will not be effected by this rule. Not gonna let a pet keep me from having fun. It doesn't bother me when someone has their dog with them as long as its on a leash. Oh yea and they let it do its business in their pit and not mine.
I GUESS SNOOPY[MY DOG] WONT BE GOING DOWN THE TRACK AT LONE STAR. HES GOT A GOOD RECORD AT ANGLETON. HE RODE WITH ME TO SEMMIS LAST YEARS SEASON OPENNER.REMEMBER HE RAN AWAY BECAUSE I TURNED ON THE DEATH RAY.BY THE WAY IF YALL SEE HIMM LET ME KNOW !!!
WE ARE GOING TO MODIFY THE PET RULE. YOU CAN BRING YOUR PET BUT THEY MUST STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE, RV, ETC. WE WILL NOT ALLOW PETS AND DOGS TO BE WALKED AROUND ON A LEASH AS SOONER OR LATER SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET BIT.
Lets see.
LSMP (Lonestar Motorsports Park)
OR
LSMPDS ( Lonestar Motorsports Park and Dog Show )
Man I tell ya there has got to be something else to complain about than not seeing your dog for a few hours. I guess everone takes them to work with them also!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I do have a 2 dogs and they still like me when I get home from the race track.
Lonestar needs to revert back to its original rule NO PETS ALLOWED- Staying in the car for 4-12 hours (depending on how good their owr does at the races)would be a little uncomfortable for the bladder as well as the belly-NO LEASH WALKING MEANS NO POTTY BREAK!!!Most people with halfa brain will run the AC so hopefully no heat strokes will be seen, Some not so smart people will not leave the AC on, just roll down the windows- Not a good idea a dogs normal tempature is already about 3 degrees higher than that of a human, they have no sweat glands, and they have fur - their tolerance for heat is much lower than most people think. Once a dogs body temperatur elelvates then the pet can have seizures which CAN lead to permanent brain damage. So by stating the dog cannot be walked on Lonestars property could actually cause more damage in the long road- in conclusion either leave the dog at home for his/her own benefit-or Lonestar needs to reevaluate their rule
As a veterinarian, the debate is simple to me. Either, the rule should be NO ANIMALS AT THE TRACK or a "release of liability" should be added to the signed paperwork when entering the gate. If animals are allowed, a leash should be mandatory. Thinking they are going to be kept in the RV all day without the conscientious owner taking fluffy for a potty break is very impractical. If the creation of this rule is to prevent or eliminate liability associated with SOMEONE getting bit, who's liable when Brutus attacks Fluffy? Again, it's either no dogs or dogs on a leash.
