I understand we need about 9 more people to sign up for the Summit Super Series for Angleton to participate in this. Come on guys and gals, let's get'er done.
Bobby, They will get a lot more to sign up once they open. Surely they know that. Heck there is probably a whole bunch of 'em that don't even know the track is opening March 2nd.
Right, but it's like a catch22. The track wants to make sure they have enough people or they won't sign up. And the people won't sign up unless the track does.
Ok, What is the magic number? How many do we have now?
Question: What is the Sign up money used for? Is this used to pay the fee to sign up, or does this go to something else? If it goes somewhere else, could we bump up the sign up fee by $5.00?
Ok let me ask that question again.
When a racer signs up to join the SSS for the track a fee is charged to sign up(I believe it was $20.00 last year). What is this money used for?
Does this money go to a pot that repays what the track pays IHRA to sign the track up?
Does anybody know how much money the track would have to pay out for this to happen?
We need to work on getting the SSS at Angleton Raceaway this year.
Good question, but if only 20 people sign up at $20 a pop that makes the track short by $100. Right? Maybe they can charge $25 and that would cover the $500, unless the track spends the bracket team fee for other things. Hope it ain't trophies or payout because non-team members can win those without paying the fee. If ya'll read this and know how to contact some of the racers from last year, give them a call and let them know what is going on.- Chris
James, from my understanding, the cost to join the track points will be $20.00 as last year, that is suppose to take care of the $500.00 dollar track entry to go to the bracket finals in San Antonio. The Summit Super Series is a seperate points race run along with the local track points and the entry for that is a ONE time fee off $10.00 (ck. with nancy). The SSS points determine a true world champion based on 30 rounds of racing. I was told the track needs 22 drivers to sign up for the SSS points series...I will double check with Nancy on this.
You sign up with IHRA for the SSS the cost is $10.00 and they give you a car # with an X in it. SSS is totally seperate from your track points. The $10.00 you give IHRA has nothing to do with the $500.00 the track has to put up to be eligable.
The Summit Super Series costs the track $500 to sign-up, then to go to the bracket finals the track has to pay another $500. The $20 you pay for points goes toward the entry fee we pay to go to the bracket finals and the t-shirts. The rest of the t-shirt money I try to get sponsors for to defer the cost to the track. This year I want to have a banquet like the year before with a DJ, food , and trophies. None of this includes the basic IHRA memebership for the track which is about $1,000. Hope this answers some questions how quickly the money goes!!!!!
