Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Way to go Jay! Hope you go on an win the race.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Congrats Jay! I was trying to look on the NHRA.com site to check the sportsman results and they are not posted. Did they get delayed or canceled with the rain on Saturday? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Respectfully,
WHV

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Okay, I just read on the NHRA website that sportsman elims will be held Apr 7 (gee, answered my own question...) Once again, Good Luck Jay!!

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

90% of all the sportsman racers are stuck in the mudd in the back forty. We were lucky to get pulled out by a friend. they (NHRA)put us back there knowing it was going to rain with no plan on getting us out. im a little ticked off, but who cares.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Thats NHRA they love the sportsman racers. Without them they have no one to crap on. I just cant bring myself to spend my $200.00-$300.00 to enter for a measley payout of probably around $1500.00.

Anyways congrats Jay on your class win and goodluck this weekend.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Good luck on the 7th, Jay !

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Congrats Man! Best of luck on the 7th!

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Just think Jay and Jack when you go back this weekend you might be on solid ground.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Jack your not the only one thats ticked off, there was so many negative comments on the HRP forum that they took the forum down, talk about censorship. I personally will never enter another national event at HRP, period.

Congrats Jay now go get the Wally!

Congrats to you and the family, after looking at the radar decided to stay home. So sorry to hear about everyone getting their rigs stuck. The Sportsman racers have to pay their way in and get treated like subpar citizens, the Pro's don't pay to get in.

Have always attended the Nationals to watch all the sportsman classes just my opinion that is where all the action is at.

Jack will be out running the red camaro in some index races this year hope to catch you guys sometime. Appreciate everything you do for the racers.

Nick Tha P....
p.s. Nancy got rid of my wife's Cadillac and bought her a little economy car, may have to put a wuppin on the Monte Carlo (got to wait until I get the paper tags off of it...LOL, had better be careful she catches me foot brakin her new car I may be sleepin in the garage..LOL)

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

yes , I'm a little ticked that we got stuck in the mudd, and i wish someone could tell me why after twenty years there has'nt been any decent access roads put out in the back pit area. I also realize that this area is only used maybe once a year. But this is the big show, and it's just as important to the sportsman racers to be there as the pros.NHRA put Over 200 sportsman racers out there knowing well ahead of time that it was a very good chance of rain for the weekend, why was'nt the rock base brought out eariler in the week? If they got it at 6 pm sat. nite, they could of got it the previous monday or tuesday. They certainly have access to it. With all the rain we probly could not have run anyway, but we could of got out easier to leave.
It was;nt just the sportsman rigs that got stranded, the alcohol cars were also in mudd, but they got out eariler than us.. I'm not going to rant on this anymore, the truth is i've been stuck in Memphis and Dallas also!
I personally think the national events have OUT GROWN the so called super tracks, with all the pro teams taking up 100 or more feet of pit space somebody has got to move on, after all the pros are the show!

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

For NHRA its is all about the money. They sell all that extra pit space to the pros to pad their pockets and throw the sportsman in the pasture. There are times I think want to put my car back in stock eliminator and then I get a wake up call like this weekend. Sportsman racers pay $250.00 to $300.00 to run a national event for a measley payout of somewhere around $1500.00 to win. It amazes me how many sportsman cars will show for a national event but you can throw a bracket race with a larger payout for less of an entry fee and can't get a full field.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Yea, you guys outta try to dodge 300 mph funny cars and top fuel dragsters for minimum wage. We have a dangerous job and that is what they think of us.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Yea thats the last $250 that NHRA has gotten from me. I even tried to cancel my NHRA membership but they said that I would just have to let it expire. I'm seriously thinking about selling the altered and building a Street King car and running at HMP.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Uhhh, has anybody checked the weather for this weekend??? Does not look good.......

Good Luck and bring your personal floatation devices!

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

Maybe we can bring the drag boat out of retirement.

Re: Jay wins class at Baytown

I think those flat-bottom marsh boats would be fun to race...
