Dragster Frame Towing Supports

What aftermarket supports are being used to support the frame of 230 thru 240 inch dragsters during towing that won't break the bank . Eric has been riding in the back and holding it up but he is only good for about 50 miles . Really , please help ! HAMMER

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

Hey Don I use one of those hard rubber cushions. Jack the car up and slide it under. Looks like the air one, but its not.Chassis has not Crack since I started using it

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

You can use a chassis stabilizer bag ,there around $250. You can look on-line at rjracecar or A.R.T. (applied racing technology). Not for sure if jegs/summit has them. I,ve seen two styles one round and the other is rectangler

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

Do you have to remove the body panels where it hits . Either one of the styles you guys are using . Thanks for the quick reply , Don

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

Don, I still have your 2x4's. Will give them back to youat Houston and you can use them.

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

I use the rectangler bag and it fixs under the driver seat long ways and does,nt hit any body panels. just slide it under the car before you tighten the strap all the way, then tighten the straps and air the bag up.

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

I use one of the stablizers that you can air up,(aprox 12 to 14 inch in dia.) I travel a lot and it really works well. I put it under the Dragster frame just in front of the engine but behind the drivers seat. I air it up pretty tight. I try to shake the car by hand hard it will be firm without the usual flex or movement. they are about 250 to 300 $ with shipping but they will save you from frame rail cracks

Re: Dragster Frame Towing Supports

Thanks , guys . I found a ribbed matt that is about 5/8 thick . With the dovetail I was able to double it and it took up 100 % of the slack under the back halve . It is 4x6 feet and I fastened it to the floor . Split another support between the front wheels and foot pedals . Total cost was 54.00 dollars plus tax . Got the matt from american fence and trailer on the gulf freeway . I think it is used to load cattle as a non skid and has the consistency of a soft mud flap . Hope it works . Thanks again . I will still ask Santa for a bladder support for insurance . Later , HAMMER
